  • Apple: It's Panic Time  [View article]
Personally, I love Bill's articles. This one as always, was a very interesting read. Bill knows enough that he doesn't base his investments merely on "analysts"... He does his own research and summarizes trends. He's been wayyy more accurate then "analysts" about APPL.

This article was just following up to his prediction (which was correct) about "analysts" cutting price targets and how stock price might follow. As a long term investment NEVER base your purchases on "analysts" predictions...

  • Apple Earnings Preview: Can Shares Rebound?  [View article]
    "My Predictions

Since everyone probably wants to know where I think Apple will actually come in, here are my guesses:

    Revenue: $55.12 billion
    EPS (diluted): $13.52
    Gross margins: 38.27%
    Operating margins: 31.07%
    Net profit margins: 23.28%
    iPhones sold: 48.6 million
    iPads sold: 23.05 million
    Macs sold: 5.17 million
    iPods sold: 12.6 million"

Unbelievable, why are you not an analyst? You are way more competent then the guys said iphones were gonna sell 60 million.
Analysts got burned so many times they forget their job is to be accurate.

  • Chewbacca meets the Incredible Hulk: Disney's (DIS) deal to snap up the Star Wars franchise for a cool $4.05B has the entertainment industry buzzing and analysts chatty. Barclays says the company will monetize the property and roll it through the Disney ecosystem, while both JPMorgan and Wells Fargo call the purchase positive for future earnings. By all accounts, the relationship between 2%-Disney owner George Lucas and the House of Mouse will remain positive with Lucas adding creative input, but not calling the shots on scripts. DIS +2.5% premarket.  [View news story]
Best line of the whole blurb, "with Lucas adding creative input, but not calling the shots on scripts."

I think that is really the key to Star Wars' success. Lucas had too much creative control over the last(newest) 3 installments. DIS has got it going on!

  • As Apple (AAPL +4%) gets ready to unveil a smaller and cheaper iPad, the education market is taking center stage. Schools and colleges have already begun buying iPads en masse - education-related iPad sales doubled Y/Y in the June quarter - and the iPad Mini launch could accelerate this trend. Among Apple's efforts to cater to educational institutions: dedicated sales teams, regular meetings with school officials, financing for volume orders, and a digital textbook initiative[View news story]
Look, 40lb backpacks on 40lb kids is not good for them, even if they are 100lb, The books actually cost more per year then an iPad mini and obviously an iPad mini will last more then only one year. Not to mention, kids these days are addicted to screens. As for the writing skills, you can still have that separate in spiral notebooks or just get a pen for the iPad. Simple fix.
