Blackberry likes to buy high and sell low.
They paid nearly one Billion dollars for Rockstar Nortel deal
and sold it for a fraction of what they paid.

    Another creative accounting move.

  • BlackBerry thinking of shutting down Swedish design ops  [View news story]
I remember a few Quarters ago when Blackberry made lots of purchase contracts, then had to write off $Billions in Inventories when they broke these contracts,
and revalued their assets very low, then decided to sell off some very cheap.

Borrowed from Prem Watsa at 6% interest instead of from the Banks with cheaper rates.

This Company is a Master of creative accounting.

  • Can Penn West Survive 2015?  [View article]
Its possible that Oil price can go back up too.

Yes its down currently below $50.00 and can go lower,
but PWT has taken action already by cutting their Cap spending
    and dividend.

If oil price do remain at these low level for a longer period ( I doubt it)
then the Company will act accordingly.

Meanwhile they have a solid Balance Sheet and they are paying down their Debt.
Over $1B paid down in the last year and they will pay another $355 down in Q4.

  • Update: Penn West Petroleum - Buying When Blood Is In The Streets?  [View article]
    Good analysis, User.

I also believe with their tangible book value of over $11.00.
Penn West will surely get over twice its current price even if it
    goes bankrupt.

Oh no, they will not go bankrupt...PWT will be acquired long before that.
However the company is very solid when compared with Others and can survive this downturn without a problem.

Also thanks to the Author for an excellent article
