  • Boeing secures agreement to sell aircraft parts to Iran [View news story]
I don't think we should be doing business with them. Because right now they can not be trusted and pose a threat to our national security. Call me paranoid but considering the history this country has had and the stance they have taken against us and western ideals then there needs to be rules. There needs to be strength in defending our nation, there needs to be realism that not everybody likes us.

If there was a person down the street that through various ways in speech and action consistently threatened you or at least doesn't like to play nicely then you would label them as a bully. There is nothing wrong with calling a spade a spade. There is nothing wrong with now identifying this person as a bully and wanting to protect yourself and your friends from him. So you now guard yourself against that bully. Now let's say the bully rants and raves and talks about picking a fight. Who with? me? my friend? my other friend? I don't know but if it is POSSIBLE that this bully will start a fight, POSSIBLE, because of the words and actions this person has taken then do I really want to give him anything that he could use to harm me? No

What could the bully possible do to harm anyone? I don't know
I didn't think someone would purposely fly an airplane into the World Trade Center. I didn't think someone would shoot a plane out of the sky? I didn't think someone would threaten to execute a mom because she's Christian or walk into a school and kill children.
I don't think like that but some people do.

But I do know bullies don't play by the rules of humanity. I know how I live, I live by norms of decency and human respect....not everyone does. Man's history has proven time and time again that some people live by Man vs Man, some like to rule and conquer, maim and kill.

I don't know exactly how a threatening mind thinks. I don't know what lines this bully is willing to cross, obviously more lines than I am, so therefore that bully is not my friend and ally. But what I don't want to happen is to be in the position to say, "wow, I just never thought he would do that. I just wanted to be nice."

Why are we surprised when bad things happen? Because the average person doesn't think and live a bad life. I believe that. But there is always that rotten cherry in the bowl.

I'm just saying we shouldn't be doing business with them. Plain and simple as that. Not until they prove they are no longer threatening.

Let's not ignore things just because we don't want to believe it.

with that I'm going on vacation, away from news. I wish everyone well

What sheep? I'm talking about BA at the moment. I never said it was right for anyone to sell F-14 parts to Iran. It's all wrong in my book. How can we possibly control the damage they could do if we assist them?

Unbelievable!!! The key phrase is "the agreement shows that major US companies are starting to benefit from the softening of relations between Iran and the West."

    Not a good thing

  • 3 Reasons To Sell Facebook Now And Look To Invest At Lower Levels [View article]
FB from a technical point of view looks very strong to me here. The stock is just above the 50 day MA and only 15% above the 200day. Volatility, like the rest of the market, is declining so when it picks up the question is which direction. If it goes down support should be 50day or 200day. Going to $50 seems to me that the whole market is imploding.

Yes the daily MACD is going negative but the weekly looks good. I'm long with Jan'15 70 calls and I like Bennythebull's Jan'16 105 calls.

At the current level I would watch for a dip and buy then or buy if it pops. FB is smart, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that their acquisitions will pay off handsomely. Thus, long

  • President Obama will go into budget negotiations with Congressional leaders on Friday calling for a $1.6T increase in tax revenues over 10 years, double the $800B discussed during debt-ceiling talks in 2011. The sides are sticking to their guns over tax hikes for the rich, while the GOP also want entitlement changes. Obama is due to today meet a who's who of top CEOs, including those of Wal-Mart, IBM and Ford. [View news story]

  • AMR Corp. (AAMRQ.PK -2%) says that American's first Boeing (BA) 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft delivery, previously scheduled for 2014, has been delayed due to production issues, and due to the complexity of the financial arrangements with stakeholders and the bankruptcy court, it can't guarantee whether the purchase will still go through. AAMRQ.PK cut a deal with BA in 2008 to buy 42 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, with the right to acquire an additional 58 aircraft. [View news story]
to blame the pilots for the problems at American is completely unfair. They are just one aspect of the company. Many times it is their inept planning that begins the spiral downwards. Add in a some mishaps and wham it's out of control. The pilots like any other employee are trying to maintain their careers. They aren't bus drivers, they're highly skilled employees that take years to get their experience that is required by law to operate an airplane.

It seems that the only time a pilot gets any respect is when the engines are gone and he/she needs to land it in the Hudson, then suddenly every penny that pilot has ever earned isn't enough to bring you safely to ground.

Now with American, there are numerous problems. Having seats move during flight sure doesn't reassure the public you offer a safe environment. The issue with Boeing doesn't help. But don't think that the pilots and all of the employees haven't given up a lot already in pay and benefits to keep this airline going. Now it's just a matter of time, so make that last drop a good one.

  • The 'Graying Of Apple': Fans Getting Older, But Loyalty High [View article]
I would disagree that AAPL's appeal is decreasing in the 18-35 age group. My two college kids and all of their friends have an iphone. The ones who don't are waiting for the iphone 5 to get in. And now my 14 yr old is begging for one, and according to him, everyone in his middle school already has an iphone. The beauty of the iphone is it's technological appeal to all ages. The apps make the phone what you want it to be, and allow the phone to change along with you. Once you go iphone, I think you'll stay. It's a fabulous product that only encourages it's users to buy more and more AAPL technology. AAPL's goal of making technology easy and adaptable is working, and their new products mean growth.

  • FedEx (FDX) plans to offer voluntary buyouts to eligible employees in mostly non-operational staff groups. The company says it will provide more details on early retirement options no later than FQ4. [View news story]
FDX already handles a large portion of the US mail for the Post Office and this buyout just streamlines the departments more efficiently. Long term, FDX is in great position for world growth, more so than UPS. FDX is always buying up smaller non-US companies for this reason. If TNT was such a good asset, then FDX would have already acquired them. Long FDX
