I'm glad those days of worrying about SIRI and its .05 swings and waiting for weeks for the pps to go back up are behind me. I use to worry about AAPL dropping $5. Now its more of the norm give or take $10 pps.

I'm going to disagree with a few experts at this point with all these headline driven markets and say that timing the market is everything. Buy during panic driven sell-offs. Friday I sold. Maybe I'll buy back in on Monday depending on how the markets react to China PMI, ISM mfg index and volume will probably be low as the exchanges will close early on Tuesday...I may have to wait until Thursday to buy back in. While our markets are closed all other markets will be open, that equals to extremely high volatility. I'm not trying to get caught in that.

That's an interesting strategy to have your stock locked up selling at a higher price so that shorts can't borrow. I guess I've done that unintentionally with AAPL trying to catch a "flash-up". I normally lock it up at $10 over the current market price. I've seen these Flash-up movements several times with AAPL. I wonder if the exchanges will honor those price? We already know AAPL can flash-down as we seen it happen a few months ago with the "fat finger effect".

        Mike,

I purchased Siri twice before the Earnings during the last 2 qtrs, both times the pps has disappointed. Luckily, I sold the first purchase and broke even. My second purchase I wasn't so lucky, I lost about $300. Then I purchased AAPL and made up my losses. Any suggestions on how to play this upcoming Earnings for Siri?

On another note Bought AAPL at 574 Wed, sold today at 582, these markets are so unpredictable, especially with all the headlines from Europe. I wasn't taking a chance of holding over the weekend. I'll probably buy AAPL once again on Monday if there is a substantial pull back. I don't trust these markets enough to let my money ride over the weekend. Buying low and selling high seemed to have worked for a while. Please advise on AAPL.

But then one day it hit me, why am I fooling around with SIRI earning pennies and sometimes losing when I could be hitting it out of the park as I'm doing with the larger tech stocks?! Thats what I do now. I rode AAPL as much as I could. Thankfully I jumped out of AAPL before it spiralled down. Starting to ride GOOG Hard for the last few days since its proven to be more stable at this point. Buying low and selling high or buying high and selling higher....lol

Clocks, huh? Is this what you're holding on to now? I guess the markets are cleaning those clocks too. There's a reason why I'm advising SIRI investors to sell and seek real profits else where. I last sold SIRI @2.26, hardly any profits. Within the last 2 days I've purchased GOOG and cleared over 10k in profits. Occasionally I'll return to SIRI just to see how low its been driven. The chatter here on SA is priceless...

Its a quick way to to make some cash or lose some cash..lol. without having to meander and be fully invested emotionaly with that stock. AAPL I bought right before earnings as well, nice pop of $40 per share. Yes, Of course I sold the next Day. I have to protect my profits and continue to improve my position. I'm currently raking in some profits with GOOG. I'm Glad to see that you were smart enough to sell your AAPL and not hold because that stock has been Drifting away fast... what if... what if this, what if that. It shoudlnt be a suprise to anyone that SIRI shares have been dwindling. Everyday an investor hopes and prays for the price to go up all the while the pps continues to slip, before you know it the pps will be at $1.50 when that same investor could have sold at a much higher price. If you would have followed my advice and bought in to Goog when I posted my last comment you would be along with me enjoying the $17.00 (2.38 %) runup that GOOG stock had yesterday. But no, its more important to remain a loyal investor and lose .05 a share right?!. SIRI is on life-support. If you continue to be long in a stock like this after these last 2 earnings reports then you only have yourself to blame for any further losses. This last earnings report was the best that any investor could hope for and still it was insignificant to the pps. SIRI lacks a catalyst, content is not enough to propel this stock any further. SIRI needs to be innovative in order to remain relevant. It will only be a matter of time before the pps is driven to $1.50, then $1.20....Please stop crossing your fingers and hoping that the pps will rise magically as your losses continue to pile up. That is not an investment strategy. Get out while you still can and jump in to better positioned company such as AAPL, GOOG, etc....

        James5

I've been telling all to sell their positons in Siri because it would go lower. I was accused of having an ulterior motive. I also stated That it would head below 2.00 and I was right. Siri will descend to approximately $1.50 pps near-term. then it will spiral to $1.20. If you have any positions left, I would sell as soon as possible in order to cut losses.

This is what led me to believe the pps would go lower, I sold my Apple positions in order to purchase 60k shares of SIRI before the earnings report during the last 2 quarters. The 1st quarter earnings report was horrible as far as future guidance. Sold my Siri position the day of the earnings report with a loss of approximately $600.00. I then Jumped back in to AAPL and made up those SIRI losses.
2nd quarter earnings report same thing, I purchased ahead of the earnings report. The Earning report was in line or maybe even better, It was so great it moved the pps .05!!!! WTF!!! That was my confirmation of how broke this stock and company are. I bought @ 2.26 and sold @2.25 another loss. Anyways Siri is Toxic and the emotional investors will realize this when the pps hits 1.50 and then 1.20..Don't get me wrong I bought @.11, .95, 1.00, 1.20, 1.50, 1.75, 2.15, 2.22....so I made profits throughout the rise of SIRI...But its time to leave this stock to the market manipulators.

There are too many other stocks to be made profits in, Here is a prime example: I purchased AAPL ahead of earnings while all the nay sayers said that AAPL would miss, I knew better. Stock popped at $40 + stellar report. Now, I just return to Seeking Alpha for purely entertainment value.

SIRI shares are my kryptonite. I purchased ahead of the earnings with the intention of pulling the trigger upon reaching 3.31. I got greedy. I thought with a good earnings report it would even creep .10 higher. I know, I know, Foolish me. I sold my position absorbing a net loss of $300. Man, I was really upset!!!lol

Anyways I did what any other investor would not do, I decided to go back to the basics and purchase shares of AAPL before the closing bell yesterday. Sold that position a few minutes ago netting approximately $700 in gains. Take that SIRI!!!(<~shaking fist in the air at SIRI). I purchased AAPL ahead of its earning report this quarter and it was an amazing return on profits ($40 per share) not so much with SIRI....

        Stephen Faulkner,

My mindset hasn't changed. If you recall my previous comments, I also stated that I hate leaving profits on the table. If there is way to capitalize on SIRI before it SINKS, I'm going to find it. I did amazingly well purchasing AAPL ahead of earnings.

I thought I try my luck with SIRI ahead of the earnings report. My instincts seem to have paid-off since market trading reflects a higher pps of .05. That's all I was looking for .05, if it goes higher, I'll take that too. We'll have to see how SIRI behaves throughout today's trading session. I trust you purchased SIRI ahead of earnings, especially with how upbeat you are on SIRI with your articles.

Without a catalyst, I'm sure SIRI won't see 2.40 at all, not today or the near term future. It will continue to meander 2.25-2.35 range. Just trying to keep it real without all the fairy dust that many emotional SIRI investors are so use to.

I'm sure glad I sold on Friday before the trading was over. I sold at 604. Its too bad I was so greedy that I didn't sell at 618. Anyways I successfully defended profits from my purchase @ 560. After all it was "the house's" money. Another down day like this one today and It may see 560 once again, you know what that means.....Load-up and pull the trigger!!

Thanks Demophilus. Options are definitely not my strong suit. I'd rather continue using what works for me. I would be foolish to even consider options with the amount of variables that are out there as you pointed out, to include Volatility. I think what I need to do is go through the options tutorials and work with a practice account.

I hope you did well today and I hope you even do better tomorrow as the Market Futures are showing some promising gains. But of course that could all change with any headlines from China or Europe. Hopefully those two will be contained within their own messes tomorrow.

Yes Sir, central time. I should've pointed that out. Thank you. It was a last minute decision to pull the trigger, literally. I had been mulling it over all day long. Analysts contradicting each other as to what to expect from earnings report, so that wasn't any help. I then compared graphs from the last quarter sales reflecting most activation of Iphones were mostly activated overseas. Of course I'm no analyst, but basically if one compares graphs of sales from the first quarter and this quarter it would reflect US carriers showing slight weakness of sales in this quarter, but the overall strength once again came from international sales.

I'm that proverbial "little guy" that most analysts speak about. Just trying to supplement my future retirement. I mostly try to buy low and sell high. I don't have to worry about my shares expiring, puts, and all that other craziness. I'm simply trying to stay ahead of the game. So far its working. I also have to give credit to Seeking Alpha with all its members input and lot of good information that SA members bring to these discussions.
