  • Why Apple's Profits Are At Risk [View article]
I spent a month with a high end windows phone and a high end android phone. I found Android to be a total hack. Windows was impressive but flawed in certain ways. Now Im back to iphone which I consider the best by far, both in hardware and software.

  • Apple's New Pet: The Black Swan [View article]
Businesses will need to continue to use office and outlook. For now, that means they will continue to buy windows, especially windows 7, which will continue to be available. The only thing that might Change that is office 356 which is web based.

And there is always the chance ms will get smart and split win 8 into separate os's for PCs and tablets.

  • Pac Crest joins the rush, cutting Apple (AAPL) to Sector Perform with fair value of $440-$550, noting high-end market saturation and waning demand for incremental hardware innovation. Piper's Gene Munster holds the line, reiterating his Buy and a $875 target. Shares +1.4% premarket. [View news story]

Finally! A good reason to be bearish on AAPL. Because assets are liabilities! Of course!

  • Apple Needs Product Diversification [View article]
@Gk - The iPhone 4 without contract is $450. $200 of that is profit. What would a $250 iPhone look like? Remove $150 of the profit, cheapen up the camera, electronics, screen and battery, and make the body out of plastic instead of gorilla glass. Is that what you're saying apple should do?

Look, apple knows they can do that. The reason they don't is discipline. It's the same reason whole foods doesn't sell Coke.

Speculation... You mean guessing that something will go up or down? Yes, wouldn't want to have people like that participating in markets. Heavens forbid.

An indicator of value perhaps, but I don't think they actually make the real thing more valuable.

  • More on the iPad Mini: The cheapest model (16GB Wi-Fi) goes for $329. Amazon and Google, sellers of the $199 Kindle Fire HD and Nexus 7, are probably breathing sighs of relief. As expected, there's no retina display inside the Mini, but there is an HD front camera and 5MP back camera, and 3G/4G models are offered (they start at $459). Like the iPad 2, the Mini is powered by an A5 processor. Apple (AAPL -2.2%) is selling off. (live blog). [View news story]
Now, yes. But wait til earnings.

  • Can Anyone Breach Apple's Moat? [View article]
At the beach, i accidentally dropped my new iPhone 5 in the salt water for 1 minute. It got completely fried. At the apple store, they gave me a new phone for $200 even though I hadn't bought the guarantee. My new phone had all of my phone numbers, Text messages, music and photos already on it. That's ecosystem!

And by the way the camera on the 5 stunning, better than any camera I've ever owned.
