Interesting and good article.
It seems that by culture our thinking is too dedicated to compare. Yes, we have some common ground to do this, like we are in a global economy or humans are all the same but, when we develop economic architectures we can't do it. Take for example regions, the US is an agricultural or commodity nation like Brasil Argentina or so. Germany, Japan, France are Industrial nations. Now, look at the influence of world peoples perceptions. These and much more has a great influence on Exports and there are much, much more differences to look before we can compare.
