  • Here's What The Sirius XM Board Should Say To Mel Karmazin  [View article]
Speaking specifically to Rocco's opinion of Mel as an old radio guy and his old radio guy mentalities..Rocco speaks the truth. I won't take away from what Mel has accomplished, but he IS an old radio guy and it's hard not to be that when it's what you've done for most of your career. I worked for some old radio guys for many years who were very successful in the old days, in that "old radio way". those guys are now either retiring..or being pushed out by the companies they worked for because they either have not kept up with the times..or won't. it does not diminish their achievements..it's just, the world is so much different now..than when I started in radio 30 years ago. I can tell you I'd rather do old style on air radio..then having to worry about integrating twitter, facebook, google + and whatever else comes along while trying to accomplish more with 35% less staff than i used to have. Mel's comfort zone is an old radio model, just put in a new box. If you're happy with that model, good for you:)

  • Sirius XM: Misunderstanding Its Value And Trapping The Bulls  [View article]
How is it that costs would go unchanged? If the company does well, talent will expect more money, suppliers will expect more money. And in some ways, it's a harder business for costs as you can't simply budget 2 to 3% more for the following year like you might be able forecast for traditional goods/services. all it takes is a talent to say they want 20% or they'll walk and your budget goes out the window.

  • Buffett Bought SiriusXM On Sale At $1.70  [View article]
Well, i guess there are those who feel Cameron and Rocco are the ultimate SIRI bears on Seeking Alpha, so i guess the Ying to their Yang is SF. i take all with a big grain of salt. Nothing against them, it's just the facts are exploited by sheer speculation by most of these writers. that's it, wool gathering speculation and personal opinions..(Which we are all pretty guilty of, especially when it comes to SIRI.) In regard to this specific story, let's keep in mind Buffet bought BOA on sale as well. Story is yet to be written if that was a good move or a bad move (depends on where BOA is on any given day) Same with SIRI. Some days it sucks, some days it doesn't:)

Here's the big question, really. Does john Malone strike you as a benevolent guy, who cares if the small time shareholders of SIRI profits or not? I don't think so. And regarding insider trading issues? As a director in a company myself, experience tells me just because there's a window I can't trade in, doesn't mean I don't have information that helps me decide to buy or sell. You're kidding yourself if you think those selling shares are at the same time, expecting that the shares are going to jump higher... Really?? C'mon now

As a Canadian, i fear that at some point, our gov"t will think it's their patriotic duty to a Canadian success story to buy it..or part of RIM, with taxpayer money. and eventually it will die like Nortel did, with no return to shareholders..and at a fraction of it's value. cause that's the way we roll up North:)
