  • Incorrect Market Pricing Of Adobe Systems Might Lead To Investor Disappointment [View article]
Mr. Rao, it would be helpful if you actually showed the calculation for discounted cash flow, especially since you double checked your numbers.

I have a large equity and options position in Adobe and earnings are coming out tomorrow night, and your calculation of a $65 stock value is of great concern to me as I await the earnings report.

  • Piper reports strong Nimble checks, soft CommVault checks [View news story]
"CommVault (NASDAQ:CVLT), on the other hand, had a net difference of -25%, worse than Q4's -13% and the weakest figure in Piper's survey."

One would expect CVLT's numbers to be bad with Robert Hammer as the Company's CEO. Besides sounding like he doesn't know what he is doing in the earnings webcasts, he always has an explanation for missing his numbers. "We didn't have sufficient # of sales personnel on board in the US" as an excuse for one quarter miss, and the next quarter "the sales staff are just now getting up to speed from a productivity standpoint." He keeps promising and analysts keep buying his promises. I am only holding the stock with a large loss in hopes some company will buy CVLT and proceed to right the ship.

  • Give Alcoa A Chance, Will You? [View article]
Didn't China just rescind the tax it has been charging on its aluminum producers? Won't that cause them to increase production if pricing is stable, and cause an even larger supply of aluminum? That will not be good for AA or CENX, both of which I own.

  • Lumber Liquidators: The 'For Sale' Dilemma [View article]
I am just day trader who actually made some money trading LL options into earnings. I know nothing about flooring.

What I remember about the Sixty Minutes piece is an interview with a Chinese supplier who said as I recall that we could not supply LL with the flooring that we sold them at the extremely low price we sold the product at if the formaldehyde levels in the product were below the California Standard Levels. Even so, as I recall, LL asked for (and the Chinese supplier agreed to put) a label on the product saying the flooring did meet the California standards.

That tells me, if my memory of what was said on the Sixty Minutes segment is accurate, that LL did know that the flooring purchased from that supplier had formaldehyde levels in the flooring above the California standards. Ergo, the amount of testing that LL did or did not do is irrelevant.

  • Answering Questions About Lumber Liquidators [View article]
Whitney, there have been a lot of comments about LL's profit rate not being highly unusual and the commenters questioned whether unusual earnings should have been the basis for shorting the stock. Also, I seem to recall that some expert of non-American descent advised you that LL was not complying with California's standards, and this was another factor in your decision to short the stock. Is there any basis for the statements that LL's earnings were not so high as to cause you to question them and therefore short the stock. Also, if you got info on LL's non-compliance, did you or the expert share this info with the State of California.

If you have already answered these questions, please ignore.

  • Splunk: Here It Goes Again [View article]
On 3/19, splunk is down almost two bucks, taking it below to $62. Something is amiss with this company. Traders don't take stock with great earnings down for no reason. I had some options but they got killed after the post earnings slide which seems to happen every quarter. However, I do own 100 shares at 43 so I haven't been hurt too bad.

Can anyone speculate what is going on a big up day for all other stocks? I know there is some concerns about officer compensation, but this happens with most companies.

I guess I need to pull up some financial statements and see if I can find anything that would justify this sell off.

  • Commvault: Red Flags Galore [View article]
Just listened to the third quarter ended 12/31/14 conference call. Same old excuses. We're still trying to increase America's income and the process is slow even though we finally have a sales staff in place. We would have done better internationally and in toto if the exchange rate didn't go against us.

I have been holding this stock at a loss for at least 18 months now, and I should have not ignored Akram's Razor thoughtful counsel against owning the stock at such high levels back in 2013. I think it's time for me to bail, take my substantial loss, and put the money from the sale in a stock that may actually increase in value in calendar 2015.

  • Xilinx, Inc.: Analysis Of Q2 Earnings [View article]
It would be nice if you would have included some balance sheets numbers in the article and explained what XLNX did to adversely affect its cash flow.

I got absolutely nothing out of this article and my work history included almost daily reviews of balance sheets and income statements of companies supporting their contract proposals to the Federal Government.

  • China Mobile Game Q3 Preview: Upbeat Results Expected; Buy On Weakness [View article]
CMGE has been good to me. Got in at 16.93 but only 200 shares.

Earnings coming out Monday before the open and stock has been up as high as .91 today. In August, they guided lower for this quarter, but games on Mobile have gotten a lot of attention in the Asian community. Sixty Minutes had a segment on games popularity recently.

    I like your thoughts.

  • Zacks' Bear Of The Day: Lumber Liquidators [View article]
LL had a great day today. You are not the only analysts/investors that are probably short, and the shorts got hammered today.

I will wait for Home Depot. It was up today but it's down almost $2.00 from its high for the year.

I admit my position in LL was down but it's making money for me today, although who knows what tomorrow will bring. Since I am up, I will take a chance on holding it until the next earnings report comes out. Know a lot of people who are putting hardwood floors in their homes.

  • Squllier's Declaration Sheds Light On Bankruptcy Details For GT Advanced Technologies [View article]
Thanks, Matt. But it looks like the party is over for me and my 20K of losses. I invest in a lot of Apple suppliers, e.g., BRCM, SWKS, CRUS, etc., and they have made money for me. However, I just acted on a recommendation for a large purchase of 2016 GTAT options from a money manager who I respect and stuck with it even after the price declined following the I Phone 6 release date. Haven't had anything like this happen since 2001, but I deserve to absorb this substantial loss. I just didn't check into the reasons for the price decline. Had I checked, I would have learned that GTAT ranked fifth on the list of stocks to short by professional traders. That in itself should have prompted me to sell/buy back the options. Somehow I thought that things like this don't happen in 2014.

  • Danger Zone: Workday [View article]
I looked at earnings when they came out and I could not believe the valuations analysts were generating after their review, e.g., $130. Nice report. Will help me stay away from the Cloud until the real leaders emerge.

  • Here's What To Expect From Rite Aid Earnings Thursday [View article]
I have no idea what the bottom line is going to be on Thursday based on this article. However, drugstores are doing quite well this year so I will probably wait to see what they come up with, although I will look very closely at trading in the stock on Wednesday and option activity in particular.

  • Alcoa pulling back as Nomura sees significant downside risk [View news story]
Well, I see the jobs reports tomorrow and Friday having a big effect on AA's price. If jobs are up (no impact on market with ADP Employment change miss), then car sales might go up, which would be a positive for AA. JMHO.
