Qualcomm: A Promising Leader in Mobile Internet [View article]
@Stock Doc:
Doesn't anyone find it ironic that you castigate me for recommending AAPL, which is up 225% this year, and yet you recommend QCOM which is up a PATHETIC 16%. Next year could be different, sure, but I seriously doubt it. What were you recommending last year? How has it done?
And you are a professional and I am just an investor. I find that rather hilarious. Good luck, because QCOM is probably headed DOWN, like it's been doing since JULY already.
Try investing in something you actually understand.
@SanDiego Q: BREW is better not discussed, since it's irrelevant. That is not the source of my handle here.
@rajsekar: Apple has not employed me to do anything. I am only trying to tell you that it's one of the best stocks on the net, I have made tons from it. But I guess you aren't into investing to make money? So look for stupid, baseless examples to try to show the iPhone isn't the rock star we all know it is, and cite India and Russia, etc... in a bizarre attempt to discredit it.
Making money in the stock market isn't that hard. Stay away from losers like QCOM and stock 'experts' who would recommend it (trying to take your money, no doubt). Listen to investors who have made money and know what stocks are great long term investments, or do your OWN research.

Flash content actually is widely viewed as trashing up the net, is horribly inefficient and anyone who is actually understands this fully aware that it will eventually die out.
It's a little late to be getting in now, and the reason Qualcom is lagging is that it's not a good buy.
I haven't seen anything is remotely capable of replace or displace iPhone. Apple has the right idea to keep flash off the iPhone. The main actual use for it is youtube, and all that works great on the iPhone since they have implemented server side technology that converts Flash to H264 on the fly.
The only other 'use' for flash is banner ads, which are incredibly annoying and are only slowing down your computer. Best to turn it off in your browser.

Apple is the most open and free system there is. It's open because they promote open standards, not windows-only proprietary options. It's free of viruses, obfuscation, headaches and ancient 'technology' such as registries, BIOS, etc...
But if it makes you feel 'smart' to use the COPY of Mac OS which is Windows, then go for it. Just don't kid yourself.
A Review of the 2009 Macworld Conference and Expo [View article]
Good riddance to MacWorld Expo. It was a MAJOR DRAIN on the company.
Next year, Apple will probably exhibit at CES, and blow those clowns away from within their own, pathetic conference.
The entire PC industry has been leeching off of Apple since the beginning. I think it's a great idea to take this stock manipulation out of the picture.
You think you were enlightening anyone with advise about the MacWorld run up? I thought everyone knew about that.

Fanboy or not, Mac users aren't going to switch to Windoze-land, so you can just get over any 'reasons' like 64 bit in your mind because they will pale in comparison to the agony of 'going windows'. Call me a fanboy if that makes you feel better about using Windows, I understand completely, been there, done that.

That's just it, Dean, you recognize that the iPhone is the best mobile browser, bar none, then you mention you don't use it because.... wait for it.... you have to have flash. Well, if you can't have flash on the iPhone, then you might as well just go winmobile? It just doesn't make sense.
You have to understand that Mac users have been mistreated for years, and Microsoft has been laughing about it. Funny how things change, isn't it?
When someone tells you (or thousands tell you!) to just 'get an iPhone and stop whining' they may be trying to give you ADVICE, but you see it as flaming. It all depends on your pont of view.
After all, for decades, Mac users were told to 'just get a WinDOZE machine, they are everywhere, what is the problem' etc... they didn't listen. And it's such a great thing that SOME of us had the conviction to stand with a BETTER product even though it often seemed no one else cared enough to go against the flow. Because of that, you have a choice now.
Apple's Leap from Mediocre to Marvelous [View article]
Apple have never been mediocre. Apple showed IBM there was a market for personal computers. Then they invented the modern computer with the introduction of the Mac in 1984. Macs have always been much better at many things than a DOS/Windows PC. But the best product doesn't always become the highest seller.
Apple marketing is great, but it's the products. To imply that they are selling something you don't need (sand in the sahara) is ludicrous. Everyone who doesn't already have one needs a Mac or an iPod.
Adobe has not been the slightest bit kind to Apple or it's users. For instance, Adobe would not allow display postscript for OS X at a reasonable price. So Apple used PDF. Adobe basically wrote off Apple for dead in the late nineties. Looks like that bet was not a smart one. Adobe's applications are also way overpriced. They want like $400 for photoshop. Give us a break, and quit pushing everyone to windoZe as hard as you can, Adobe, and maybe Apple would toss you a bone. They could probably show you how to improve Flash as well because QUICKTIME (especially using H.264) is far, far better than Flash.
Flash simply can't handle anything larger than a banner add with any efficiency--especially if it's video and not some composted image.
Apple doesn't need Adobe so much anymore. And Apple doesn't buy large companies to use them, they only buy small ones to integrate into something larger.
Apple Seeking a Reunion With Adobe? [View article]
Adobe might make sense as an acquisition for Apple, but I tend not to believe anything Dan Farber says (or in this case repeats) about Apple. The man works for c/net, which is a windoze organ if there ever was one.
The bit about finally killing Windoze Media has a nice ring to it though. It deserves to be abandoned as the monopoly tool that it is.
And Adobe has been kissing up to the Windoze crowd for awhile now, which makes them a great business target for Apple.
