Domestic car companies have never taken fuel efficiency seriously. Is it any wonder why they have lost the market to VW, Honda, Toyota, even Kia and Hundai?

Hybrids are a joke. You pay way too much, and the weight of the car is such that the gains are minimal. You can't possibly drive slow enough not to engage the guzzler engine, and you can't possibly save enough on fuel to pay for all the complex technology. And, all this assumes you will have no problems with the incredibly complex vehicles, which is virtually impossible, especially given the Ford and GM track record on reliability.

GM had the EV-1, in reaction to the CAFE standards, which people in the test program loved. GM would not let people keep the cars and had them all destroyed when the CAFE standards were gutted by the right wing administration and the EPA. Check out the documentary called 'Who Killed the Electric Car'. It's an eye-opener. These were sporty and did zero to 60 faster than most gas guzzlers.

Verizon already has a horrible line-up of phones. Now, they are going to put MS search on there so that their customers can't find anything? I guess it's just as well since none of their 'smart' phones can browse the web.

  • Analyst Notes and Streaming-to-TV for Netflix [View article]
Apple TV lets you stream any content you want from your computer, actually. But it doesn't connect to Netflix servers. (All that is hosted in Windoze media format.)

There are a LOT of free things you can watch with Apple TV, including video podcasts (many free ones from big names in fact) any YouTube videos, etc...

It's more about Internet content and content you encode or buy whereas the Netflix box is tied to your subscription, is useless without it, etc...

It could help Netflix by being a pull factor to help them keep their churn rates down. It's really no competition for Apple TV.

Carlos000412, you think you are so smart. Yet you criticize a guy who says he's been long APPL since 2000.

Anyone who has been long APPL since then has made, what 1800% profit?

Sure, if we knew when the dips would occur and sold and bought at jus t the right times, the same guy could have made several times the 1800%

I think you are Steve Ballmer. :-)

Sure, we are PLENTY used to MORONS bashing Apple. So far, you all been wrong. I think a lot of geeks HATE apple because they know that MIcrosoft has only ever copied Apple's ideas, badly. They hoped, no BELIEVED that Apple would 'go out of business'. Funny, but that didn't happen.

Microsoft KILLED off all sorts of competition, and did it illegally (though they were never even the slightest bit punished). But Apple survived, not because people believed in them, but because they always were a better option.

  • Blockbuster CEO: I Wanna Be Like Apple [View article]
There is no way this will ever work out. Who's products are you going to sell? Microsoft's? No one else is having any success in selling mediacenter PCs, which is about all they offer. There are some set top devices I suppose they could try to sell, but there again, they aren't selling well anywhere else.

It's ludicrous to say that you can be like Apple. Drop out of college and start building your own PC first, then develop the next user interface that will be in place for 20+ years, then invent a ground breaking audio device and phone, and you will be getting close. Better get started...
