  • Has 3D Systems Topped?  [View article]
Well, I decided to be safe and not gamble too much so bought back in yesterday at 71.89 and now have several more shares for the same cash. Since I was up over 100% at $80 avg anyways, I can handle a bit of downside but long term this is still solid.
I reckon $60 is a possibility and may buy just a bit more there

Thanks for this article and comments

Yea, I reckon something is about to happen!
I saw this kind of price action in Feb and traded it near perfectly; sold near the top, bought when it dropped, it ramped up again after which I sold again and then it dropped even further and bought in which I've been sitting on until now where it seems ripe for picking - I could be wrong but seriously, how many stocks can sustain this kind of momentum?

IBM buyout is just a rumour and I doubt there's any credence in it because if it was true, then why would both the CEO & a Director sell their shares; and not just a small portion of them...
I sold half at $77 and the other half at £82...I believe we're going down and this will offer a good entry point into these great stocks!
    I hope I'm right...

  • Why 3D Systems Is Not A Good Buy Right Now  [View article]
Can someone please confirm my logic - if it's the case that IBM would buy DDD for around $90/share, then why have 2 directors sold shares in the last 2 weeks? Surely they would know if the IBM acquisition would be taking place and would be silly to sell their stock or is my logic flawed?

Please advise? I sold half my stake at 77.00 and hold the other half but I think we must be near a short term top. I would buy in again after a 10-15% drop but will need to be patient...

  • No, Apple Still Won't Kick Intel Out Of The Macs  [View article]
It depends what the future of Macs truly is...
The original macbook air was a weak machine but was released anyways. It's only now reached comparability with a 2010 MBP 2.66 i7 when it's spec'd up to the top
So it's all speculation but there appears to be a 13" iPad in development.
Could this be the combined iPad / Mac experience!
I really don't see a purpose for a 13" iPad when the Mini seems to be taking so many sales away from the larger iPad.
We still haven't seen any Mac Desktop Touch based experience...could this be the start of it?
So sure, I don't see Intel being kicked out of the existing line of Computers - MBP, MBA, iMac, Mac Pro, etc...
However, a whole new line of devices could be developed that could cannibalise ever more the Mac lineup - it would make sense for Apple to use their existing tried and tested architectures / CPU, etc...They will start weak (like the origin iPhone) but will proceed to become ever more powerful and battery efficient.
Currently, in today's age, there is still place for desktop / laptop but in the future, will this still be the case for the majority of the population - Tablet growth is already on track to outpace PC sales. 10 years from now, I expect the landscape to be such that a Tablet will be the centre of our productivity.
Hell, we're already seeing tablets replacing check out, check in, reception and other systems...and it's early days...
The future will be interesting and I think Apple are a SOLID long term bet on the evolution of this space - the others will continue to steal from Apple... companies like Samsung and others will bring innovation but not in the same way Apple will as it appears only Apple knows how to combine hardware and software in a truly harmonious fashion to present the user with a user friendly experience. This is what Apple truly and at their heart cares about - not world domination!

  • BlackBerry Vs. Apple: Which Is A Winning Bet For 2013?  [View article]
there is a lot of impatience in this market
i have the iPhone 5; first iPhone and i love it. typing is not the best but the rest of it is great.
on the plus side i use audio devices that link in with the iOS devices incredibly well - thinking eventide h9 and digitech iStomp. these guys aren't developing for android because that system is too fragmented and the devices are very non standard!

    there are pros and cons

be patient, apple has innovated and will continue to innovate but not necessarily at the rate that we want them to - they will now release something when it it ripe and ready, lest they have another experience like with apple maps!

  • Apple (AAPL +1.7%) rallies as the Street takes the launch of Samsung's (SSNLF.PK) Galaxy S IV, which has an impressive spec sheet but has seen mixed early reviews, in stride. Apple's sell-side fans are circling the wagons, with Gene Munster comparing the S IV to an 'S' iPhone launch. Nomura is less sanguine: noting the popularity of bigger displays and stating its checks indicate a bigger iPhone won't arrive in 2013, it thinks Samsung could overtake Apple in high-end smartphone shipments this year on the back of 35M-40M S IV and Note sales per quarter.  [View news story]
samsung can only kind of innovate, they wait for apple to make the moves, innovate and then copy

i have a samsung TV, it's good BUT, they have no idea about user friendliness. the controls volume, etc.. are on a transparent surface so you can't even see it unless you're at a certain angle and in the dar it's hopeless. unfortunately we haven't had someone shake up the TV market yet and show us the light; what is should be

apple should rather do a special dividend where there is a year between the record date and pay date and the dividend is only paid to the person if they still own the shares in a years time!
