  • How Solazyme's Encapso Serves As An Oilfield Enhancer [View article]
Excellent write up on encapso. Takes me back to my Time in Shell. It is time for management of SZYM to demonstrate their capabilities. When the going gets the tough get going.

Absolutely agree with your comments both the spleen and the Japanese need with their aging population which could bankrupt social security unless solution found for degenerative disease.

  • Sources Of Investment Power: Why Expertise Matters And What It Looks Like [View article]
Mr Klein seems to be prolific. I have downloaded three books by him on decision making and will read them with interest. Decision making is what I have been doing all my professional life. I have studied this from many angles. One important thing is to categorize the types of decisions. Are the decisions reversible and at what cost. Do not bet the ranch is a good rule. I was once in a conference on APL invited by the high priest of APL Ken Iverson a personal friend. A university professor followed me around. To get rid of him I said you are a man of principle find me a principle for decision making. To my astonishment he returned two hours later with what I named the Deathbed principle. When considering a decision will you be thinking about it when you are dying and be concerned. That is one category. Another is - do not waste time decide quickly it is easily reversible.

  • Apple: Misguided iPad Woes [View article]
I have 4 iPads. The first, second and third and just recently the Air. Ail work. The first I use for music as most apps need more memory. The big advantage of Apple is interconnection with the other Apple products. I have two iMac desktops, a Pro portable, an Air portable and a iPhone 6 Plus. I like back up.

The software is superpower compared to PC and so easy to install. Apple products are cheap compared to PC because less of ones time is wasted dealing with problems.

Very satisfied user. Been involved with computers since 1961.

  • Apple + IBM Partnership 2: Implications [View article]
Completely agree. I changed from iPhone to Samsung Note due to size. Bought iPhone 6 Plus when it became available - night and day compared to Android. Apple products may look expensive but in ease of use and long life they are cheap.

  • iOS Vs. Android (And Why I Shop Less On Android) [View article]
Prices of Apple products have to become cheaper at the low end to compete. I am a big fan of Apple products but will look at other suppliers if price difference too great.

Very good input. It reminds me of a conversation I had many years ago with Steve Ballmer when I urged him to go to one operating system. Interestingly Kevin Turner talked about cloud competition with Google and AMAZON but never mentioned Apple. The Skype and BI prospects are exciting. He also interestingly talked about coopetition with IBM, Cisco etc. The world productivity theme is also a wonderful slogan. I think the most significant is free Windows licenses for small screens if I understood correctly.

Very interesting. But it is nice to screw Russia and Venezuela with low oil prices. Problem is that SZYM is lumped in with ethanol companies who will get murdered by the low price and increased domestic production.

Good input Kevin. I think management have been naive in how they managed expectations. $300 million next year! Hope they have learnt.
