  • Samsung (SSNLF.PK) says it has terminated its LCD supply contract with Apple (AAPL), and will no longer provide panels to the company due to price disagreements. Rivals LG Display (LPL +2.2%), AU Optronics (AU -1%), and Sharp (SHCAY.PK), who are already supplying Apple, should benefit. Apple has already shifted memory purchases away from Samsung, and reportedly wants to migrate its app processor manufacturing to TSMC. Update: A Samsung spokesman now denies the Korea Times' report. [View news story]
Music to my ears! The faster they can drop those crooks as suppliers the better. Seriously doubt there will be a disruption.

  • More on Apple: It looks as if the iPad Mini, premium pricing and all, is off to a decent start: the white model sold out hours after pre-orders commenced, and shipping times now stand at 2 weeks. The black model is still available. Digitimes recently claimed the Mini's relatively high pricing was due to low yields for its cutting-edge GF2 touchscreen tech (previous). If that rumor is accurate (a big if), it could mean a price cut will arrive once yields improve and costs fall. [View news story]
I just can't over how the analysts and talking heads bash that the mini is too expensive, then bitch and moan that the margins from earnings is only 40%. Do these idiots ever listen to what they spew?
Yet, the emperor who wears no clothes can lose money, miss "earnings" by a mile and they fall over each other praising the company. For amzn, I guess its all about "eyeballs" still, not hard cash. If that fool Bernie had invested the funds in the "legal ponzi" scheme known as amazon he would be a free man.

  • How We Made 613% With Apple Options In 7 Weeks And Expect To Do It Again In 4 Months [View article]
Wow, certainly caught my attention, but like annbarb, sounds too good to be true. Google search brought up a red flag, http://1.usa.gov/OylxNA
There were many other links of cautionary posts talking of fraud.

  • Still Avoiding Apple: Stellar iPhone 4S Sales A Result Of Hype [View article]
Well this piece is just proof that anyone can be an "author" on the web.
Some twenty-something pounding away in mom's basement no doubt. I'll tell you what else was failed to mention, the fact that sprint is now a carrier. I have been with sprint for so many years that I can't even remember who I had before. I have five lines because I use three for employees and have found their family plan to be very economical. I have had IPhone envy from day one. Think sprint has 50 mil subs that now can own an IPhone.
I pre-ordered my 4S on the 7th to replace my 1 year old htc smartphone. I couldn't believe the difference between the two. the htc might as well been 10 years old. I also like how solid the the 4S feels, actually built to outlast it's technology. I activated my phone myself and am very pleased with it. So go ahead, nameless author, you keep on avoiding apple, you keep on sticking your head in the sand. Can't wait for your next piece telling us that the wintel platform is the best and you just can't understand what all the hype about the IPads is about.

I've pretty much given up trying puts with amzn. Worked out this time by shorting into the close, but for only a 10 point profit. I shorted shares @ 228 and covered in AH @ 218 after the earnings release. I had seen this before where there is an initial drop (like the quarter where the phony living social investment provided an "earnings" beat), only for the pos to go green. It burned my a$$ that I gave up at least an additional 10 points before covering. But as a wise man once told me, You'll never go broke taking a profit.

  • Potential Takeover Targets For Apple [View article]
forget a buyback, worst possible use of cash. would love to see purchase of sprint, but beyond the hurdles, it would also eliminate the huge amount of $ received from the carriers for the phone. either the phone would sell for much, much more or aapl would lose the revenue once received and have to make it on monthly subs rate

Right on Ernie! Can't believe how some people love to show how bright they are. I have a "Big Dog" T-shirt that applies here:
If I got Smart with you...How would you know?

  • Is The iPhone 4S A Bust? [View article]
virus???? I know it's possible on mac, but rarely occurs. I must assume you are using a pc.Myself, I have 5 phone lines with sprint, using for ever for my business. I like their pricing, but have had iPhone envy from day one. Not only can I finally get one, but the processor speed increased, the camera is the same pixels as my canon and the "Siri" personal assistant too. What, please tell me, what is there not to love?
It's not for everyone, but what upgrade is. Separately, read somewhere how aapl is wooing china mobile, 600 million subs. Think a few might want the IPhone? 52 million subs with Sprint, gotta believe I'm not the only one. Even the chinese, according to article in LA Times yesterday, want the real thing, not HiPhone8. http://lat.ms/nT3G8U

  • Cramer's Mad Money - Cramer Strikes Back (3/24/09) [View article]
When are they going to finally admit what the guy is? He should be required to do his show in clown make up, that way they wouldn't need to run a disclaimer regarding his dart throws.

Wow, that certainly is one contrarian view you got going there. You have a strike in Chile, from what I read a three day world supply and you think copper prices will fall. If your short is to find a few bucks, yeah, that can happen, but if you looking for a big down side move, then I think you are in for some pain.

I think Jimbo lost some bucks in this, why else the meltdown? He's not worried about some friends in the business, its his own lost money that caused his behavior.
