  • Jony Ive Was Demoted, Not Promoted, And Other Things Apple [View article]
Its an interesting perspective. Ives is the closet thing to Steve Jobs in thought and execution. If Ives decides to "spend more time with his family" apple is in serious trouble.
Over 90% of their revenue is the iphone and if it wanes, apple has a problem. I don't think the apple watch is on par with the iphone and ipad.
I think longer term, without Jobs or Ives, apple worries me.

  • Surface 3 And Apple Watch - Red Oceans Vs. Blue Oceans [View article]
Have you tried the Surface Pro 3? There are tons of excellent so apps for it.
Since its a full pc it can run actual programs. While I love my air2, my surface pro 3 is far superior. It has replaced my laptop and for the most part, my iPad.

  • Why Apple TV Is Fighting For Survival [View article]
@ericlodewijk. While my tv's all have a built in Netflix app, I much prefer the interface for Netflix on my apple tv. Thus, I have four apple tv's hooked up.
There is also some great free programming that comes on apple tv such as crackle.

I experience no streaming issues you mention and find apple tv works flawlessly- far superior to Amazon. And unlike amazon, apple isn't constantly sending me ads and forcing merchandise down my throat through hard sell tactics.

I'm looking forward to the new apple tv.

  • The Insane Apple Advantage Revisited [View article]
I have noticed that the resale value of iPhones and iPads have come down as well. Sometimes I give my iphone to my kids when I get a new one and sometimes I sell them on eBay. I was going to sell a 4s on eBay, but its worth so little that I keep it and use it as a "guest" device for my kids friends to use when they come to play. I have done this with our iPads as the resale drops.

However, this doesn't affect my decision to buy a new iPhone of iPad when they are released and I think it wont matter to the majority of "i users".

I recently bought a 6 plus, a 6 and several iPad air 2's. They are well built and operate smoothly on the whole, although I have noticed more glitches and freezes as opposed to past devices.

I have been really enjoying my Surface Pro 3 and it operates day in and day out perfectly. Windows has come a long way and the software on the Surface is very powerful and integrates very well.

As such, I been wanting to switch to a Windows phone, but my kids love their iPads and iPods so I keep perpetuating the apple cycle within our house as Siri, apple apps, airplay, apple tv, iMessage and Facetime have become invaluable. Apple seems to have the total package more than anyone else. I believe there are a lot of consumers who share my thought.

With respect to the stock, at one point apple will need to develop the next best thing beyond a larger phone or a thinner lighter ipad for the stock to continue to move higher.

Only time will tell if the Apple watch is that thing. It doesn't turn me on as I'll stick with my Rolex Submariner for everyday wearing and the ol' Patek Philippe for dress.

Apple pay has great potential and I'd use it much more, but I find that very few vendors accept it. I do enjoy my apple tv and look forward to its new reiteration, but I think the public and Wall Street are looking for that next product on the level of the iPhone and iPad, both of which have defined their categories.

  • Apple Pay Vs. Google Wallet: The Rematch [View article]
I use PayPal extensivley for online purchases and in my eBay account. Apple Pay is the first mobile payment system I have used through my phone and its very easy and pleasant to use. Apple did this right.

The problem for me is that very few places accept apple pay. It will interesting to see how well it does when its accepted by more and more local vendors.

  • Why I Hate Apple [View article]
aapl is a great company with some of the most beautiful and well built products ever made. I don't know of any other tech products, except for perhaps the Surface Pro 3, that is of such high quality as are the ipad air 2 and iPhone 6.

The stock is up huge due to hedge funds who piled into the name to try to make $$$ into the end of the year. On a long term chart, appl is severly overbought and the easy money has been made. I am trading aapl but would not invest in aapl until it has a major correction, provided the fundamentals are still intact.

After the excitement of the larger screen has worn off, the shorts will perpetuate the lack of innovation, etc etc to bring the stock down. God forbid the iWatch fails to generate strong interest. It will then be up to aapl to prove they can still dominate with a much needed new, category defining product. I believe its dangerous to invest in aapl at current levels and would wait for a pullback. Provided fundamentals remain strong a pull back to $98.60 would provide for a very nice risk reward.

  • Apple: Why iPad Sales Will Recover In 2015 [View article]
We will have to see how the IBM/Apple solution for enterprise works out. Many large corporations I have been in recently are using the Surface Pro 3.

Since I hve purchased my pro 3, my ipad has been used less and less. I simply cannot do the work I need to do on an iPad. A computer is needed and the Pro 3 is one beautiful and powerful machine.

That said, however, I still upgraded all my family's ipads from iPad 2's, iPad 4's and iPad air's to the new iPad Air 2. Aside from doing real computing work, for which the Pro 3 cant be beat, the iPad air 2, along with apple's imessage, facetime and the entire apple ecosystem, is by far the finest tablet on the market.

My kids love their iPad air 2's and they have no interest in using a smaller screen on a iphone 6 plus or an ipad mini.

I believe iPad sales will experience steady growth and appl will be a buy again after the hedge traders start the negative press all over again.

  • iPhone Surging, iPad Collapsing - Apple May Be Near Its Peak [View article]
I own an iphone 6 and we have many iPads in the family. I recently went from an iPad air to an iPad Air 2.

The Air 2 is an incredible tablet as is apple's ecosystem, imessage, facetme etc. However, when it comes to my business and computing, the Air 2, regardless of its business apps, cannot compare to my Surface Pro 3.

The Surface 3 is a very powerful, fast, well built machine and is what I use for all my mobile computing needs. My iPad Air 2 cannot compete with the computing power of the Pro 3.

Since i purchased the Pro 3, my iPad is now mainly used for reading, game playing with the kids, facetime and imessage when not using the iphone6.

I dont know how anyone can say that an iPad can compare to a full blown computer like the Surface Pro 3. It is one of the finest devices on the market.

  • Apple: Up, Up And Away [View article]
iphone 6 is wonderful, however I have noticed a few glitches and crashes that did not occur with my previous iPhones.
iPad Air 2 is great, but I did not notice much of a difference in performance comparing it to my iPad Air. Aapl is moving up as hedge funds want to own it going into year end and show it on their books.
Its a bit overbought here and adding to positions at this level is risky. At the end of the year the street will be saying what's next after the larger screens, no innovation without Steve Jobs, etc, etc and the cycle will start over.

  • Apple iPad Air 2 The Most Financially Meaningful Launch In Years [View article]
I'm not quite sure what miracle ipad the investment community was expecting. The iPad Air is the finest tablet available with the Surface close behind. Apple's ecosystem is the best in breed and apple pay will gain acceptance. I will use it for the sheer anonymity.

The Ipad Air 2 is amazing in that it is A8 architecture and is amazingly thin and light. I own many iPad Airs and have pre ordered the Air 2 to replace them.

Short term aapl is oversold, but longer term its overbought. Tonight's earnings will be pivotal.

  • Apple: Not So Cool Anymore [View article]
I have yet to hear any of my kid's friends EVER mention anything Google sells as cool and they have NEVER mentioned Amazon.
The only think thing EVER mention is ipads, iphones and ipods. They also do like my Surface Pro 3 when they see it.

  • Apple iPhone 6: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly [View article]
In reality, aapl was never really revolutionary. They did not create anything that did not exist before. IBM had a touch screen interface long before aapl and Microsoft had tablets and a mobile OS long before the iPad. However, appl was able to take this further and produce incredible products that people love and desire. The iphone 6 is really amazing in that it can pack so much power in a product that is so thin and light.

You forgot about aapl's most important announcement- Apple Pay. PayPal is great, but they haven't had widespread adoption with point of sale. With apple's customer anonymity toward the vendor, I believe apple pay will capture an extraordinary amount of users.

  • At Apple, There's No Need For Tim Cook To Be Revolutionary [View article]
Wall Street still wants to see that aapl can invent the next big thing without Steve Jobs. While I believe the iphone and ipad are best in breed, the jury is out on the watch. I dont think Steve would have been happy with its design nor its need to be tethered.

The iPhone 6/plus will sell extremely well and I believe that Monday apple will announce record breaking weekend sales. There is not another vendor that has the product, the quality and the ecosystem like apple. Apple pay will be tremndous as well.

Technically speaking, there is a lot of powerful money that wants to come out of aapl stock that has driven it back past the pre split $700. A better entry point will present itself.

Support on aapl is around $78.30. Short term aapl could make another new high if 9/9 proves stellar. Longer term, there is so much money in the stock which wants to come out.

At this level, I am a trader in the stock but I would not be an investor in aapl until all the fast, smart money has left.
