  • Yellen: Fed will cut rates if necessary  [View news story]
No Government economist (Fed included) has ever correctly predicted a recession. Their prediction record is so bad random chance would do better. The record is so bad that one would think they deliberately get it wrong.

So, do you think Bernie can persuade those professors to teach for free?
The likely outcome of free education is that it will be worth precisely what the students pay for it.

The design of coal fired boilers is significantly different from that of NG fired boilers. It is often economically impossible to "convert" coal plants to NG, so forcing them out results in a total loss of the coal plant investment and new build cost for NG.

Bernie's wing will divide the Democrats for decades, leaving the GOP in the majority in Congress, just as they are now.

Cyber can result in theft, cripple financial system with denial of service, even interfere with some grid control. EMP destroys all unsheilded electronics computers, grid controls, automotive computers, cell phones, factory control systems... EMP would cause massive damage, wide scale blackouts and mass panics; it would be far worse than cyber attack because of scale of damage.

  • Payrolls miss, but UE rate dips to 4.9%  [View news story]
Certainly call into question the frequently stated excuse that the falling participation rate is due to retirement of baby boomers, and makes one wonder just how much for the falling unemployment rate is in the denominator rather than the numerator as everyone assumes.

  • Apple: The World Has Yet To See 'Peak Mac'  [View article]
Both of my kids are decades long Mac users. One has already switched to Windows because she tired of "constant crashes for the current OS, causing loss of files". Apple store couldn't help; and she "can't afford to spend the money for a new Mac when a PC is 1/3 the price. The other has said this is his last Mac for largely the same reasons.
Not all is well in Mac land. An ill; wind is blowing.

Your plan would result in the cost of US oil rising to match the cost of Saudi oil + the tariff. US oil consumers would be harmed, and retaliatory tariffs on other goods would hurt US exports. Government is never the solution, and often the cause of the problem.
