  • Is There A Worm In The Apple? [View article]
Funny how every time a stock moves against a bad trade, the people cry "Foul" and manipulation..

AAPL is a bit to large to be easily manipulated, despite so many wishing for an excuse for their own bad judgement.

The Market is just that, THE market.

The Chart is the only thing that pays you. And it does not lie.

Success has nothing to do with one's opinion. Just the skill in judging the markets opinion.

Money is made (or lost) based on the market's opinion, not one's own, nor one's own ego.

For quite some time, the bulls have been dead wrong.

  • Another Boeing (BA) 787, this one operated by All Nippon Airways (ALNPY.PK), made an emergency landing in Takamatsu in western Japan today after pilots received a battery-fault warning and smelled smoke. It's not immediately clear what caused the problems, but all 137 passengers and crew members were evacuated safely. Japan is the biggest market so far for the Dreamliner, with JAL and local rival All Nippon Airways flying 24 of the 50 Dreamliners delivered to date. BA shares -1.9% AH. [View news story]
Not Just the workers, the engineers are unionized too!

    This is Tues morning trading.

Why do AAPL Bulls want to fight the Tape?

AAPL is so 2012. Time to move on.

  • Still on his game even as he eyes private life, Treasury Secretary Geithner sticks to script, telling Congress extraordinary measures taken to stretch government dollars will run out between mid-February and early March, and warning of "irreparable harm" to the country should the debt ceiling not be imminently raised. [View news story]
Neither side could ever get anywhere near "balanced" within a year, despite Obama's claim of a "Balanced" approach.

Best one could hope for is within 10 years while not increasing debt/GDP ratio immediately.

Amortization of current debt. maybe 50 years.

Print, borrow, spend, buy votes. Rinse, repeat.

    Greece is the word.

  • The Detroit Auto Show officially gets under way today, although GM (GM) has already introduced its new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray sports vehicle, which can go from 0-60 MPH in under four seconds. With an under-body made of aluminum, and a hood and roof of carbon-fiber composite, the Stingray is an example of how car-makers are using lighter-weight materials instead of steel to improve fuel efficiency. [View news story]
In the Case of the Corvette, the use of expensive, exotic materials is as much in the quest for performance than it is for Just CAFE.

The Corvette has been a leader in weight savings vs most other exotics, since the Debut of the C5 Corvette in 1997.

  • Apple (AAPL) has cut iPhone 5 component orders for calendar Q1 due to weaker-than-expected demand, sources tell the WSJ; display orders are said to be cut by ~50%. The Nikkei also claims display orders have been halved, albeit from an elevated level of 65M. The articles back up analyst reports of iPhone production and component order cuts, and raise the question of whether Apple needs a cheaper iPhone and/or one with a larger display to bolster its international share. • Forget Herbalife. ViSalus is maybe a more impressive legal pyramid scheme and its majority-owner Blyth (BTH) the best value in the MLM sector, writes Akram's Razor. In addition to the more obvious reasons, weighing on the stock has been Blyth's required purchase of the rest of ViSalus, which - with the IPO market closed - the company doesn't have the resources for. That issue looks to have been resolved, and investors should now focus on ViSalus' rocket-like growth and its owner's low valuation. [View news story]
Regulators did not take down Enron.

    It required shortsellers.

Just as many people in the investment community knew full well Madoff was a scam, the "regulators," looked the other way.

How many regulators were fired, fined, imprisoned, or stripped of their severance or pensions?

Anybody that takes the competence and accountability of Gov't officials for granted, will lose.

Govwenment takes care of itself, nobody else.

Ever try to get a tenured, union, public school teacher fired?

And even if you could, get their pension and deny severance and/or unemployment benefits?

  • Ford plans to unveil a concept version of the Lincoln MKC at the Detroit auto show tomorrow as it seeks to gain a foothold in the fast-growing "luxury crossover" market in the U.S. The MKC is also part of Ford's plan to revive the lackluster image of the Lincoln marque and reverse a 20-year decline in sales. [View news story]
    More Badge enginneering.

The same stuff that killed GM in the 1980's

When will Ford finally get serious and invest in a World Class, platform specific to the Lincoln brand, as per GM (Cadillac) with the CTS & ATS? Or Chevrolet wth the Corvette or Camaro.

After having to shut down Mercury, one would think they would have learned something.

At least they could bring over the Falcon from Austrailia, like GM did with the Holden Commodore/Ponticac G8 or like GM will be doing again with the Chevy SS Sedan.
