  • How China Will Take A Bite Out Of Apple's Growth Momentum [View article]
Sheesh! Just waste the 2 minutes then rubbish all you want! It is fine to point out faults in what someone has written but to comment when you haven't read the article is just hubris. If you haven't read the piece. O PLEASE! Don't comment. It presents you as arrogant and small minded.

  • Update: Apple's Watch Launch Event Remained A Bit Disappointing [View article]
Apple NFC is tied to ApplePay. So, if you want to use it then you have to use only Apple products. NFC with Samsung works and works fine. I use it. Every 12 months I update my phone with one main rule...I don't use the same manufacturer every year. This way I get a good idea of what is offered in the market place. The last iphone I owned was the 4s and YES! You can say that the iphone has improved a lot since then but remember Apple said it was the best because of...well! The usual hype but wasn't. The only way to REALLY be able to differentiate between the devices that are available is to actually use them! Each for an extended period. I notice that of all my points above, only the NFC was singled out. Moving to a wider realm of media...did any of you happen to see the "Fake iphone 6 video" on YouTube? He went out in public with a mediocre Android phone and put an iphone cover on it, BEFORE the new phone came out. The first thing EVERYONE said was how fast it was!!!
Yes! Apple make good products! But when all is said and done, Apple is just another manufacturer. What makes Apple superior is it's advertising department! For years they spruiked their products as being superior. Combine this with the fact that it is truly an American success story and (in the USA, at least), they have created a throng of very biased support. In this area Apple is the best.

BB Research I feel I must apologise to you. You have written an article which addresses the issues as a lot of people see them. However, because you have dared to bring light to these issues, you have come under attack and as a fellow human being, someone needs to say sorry to you for all this "rubbish" you are enduring.
There is nothing (or, not much) new here from Apple, AGAIN!
NFC - available since Samsung GS4 (maybe earlier)
Apple Watch - is not a stand alone - DISAPPOINTING!
Health and fitness - not new
Bigger phone screen - catching up with the rest of the world
Water and dust resistance - NOT AVAILABLE unless you put a cover on the phone, which bulks it up! Especially in your pocket. Oh! that's right! A phone bigger than a 4" screen won't ft in my pocket! Maybe someone should tell my pockets that. OK! So water resistance isn't a big deal to fanbois (deliberate spelling). Well! It is to many, worldwide. IMO Any phone that comes out in 2014 that is not at least splash resistant is not worth the $ you pay for it! Training, playing, just walking in the rain...
I will be "attacked" for these comments, as you have been, on here because you dare to think for yourself and truly test each product for their worth. But believe me, in countries other than the USA, Apple does NOT successfully dictate to the consumers what/how they want/need.
I think your article was quite objective, well thought out and well written. I welcome such work about ANY product/company.

  • The Real Premium Smartphones Are Not iPhones [View article]
Here here dayo. I finally find another rational commenter. I was beginning to wonder if this was a praise apple forum instead of a stock site. Anyone that says anything that could be construed as negative to apple is ganged up on, bullied. There is no reason for it. Where are we that we are ridiculed for having our own opinion?

Maybe they are just the younger generation who use their smartphones for everything a smartphone was meant to be used for. I find it so so funny that the my childrens problems with their iphones is called an anecdotal story not a fact. I pay for their plans I have the headache of them both being stuck for 24 months with phones they don't like using.I can quote you all kinds of facts that are on spec sheets and they will be right but put a movie on your iphone, snapchat for an hour, use data, download songs, Sending messages is not just sms anymore, use mms, use face time for all your calls! Do this as your usual phone use. See how long the battery lasts THEN tell me I am wrong! This is what the kids want from their phones and this is where the battery does NOT last.

Before you condemn me for not knowing what I am talking about...forget the specs sheet...try it for yourself...get into the REAL world...then talk to me about facts!

Well portatopia considering my daughter and son are both part of those dozen or so people I mentioned...YES I KNOW THIS TO BE A FACT! My daughter doesn't use her iphone anymore because at school, using data - 1 she doesn't get messages until she turns data off and 2 the phone only EVER lasted her until lunch time. Try using snapchat and see how long the iphone battery lasts. My son is an audiophile and he is lucky to get to noon as well.
So again YES I believe what I am saying because it is true!

"battery capability that cannot be touched in that form factor of phone by anyone"

LambrettaMike you HAVE to be joking!??! Of the dozen or so iPhone 5s owners I know, NOT ONE has a battery that lasts them over half a day! It's one of the main reasons why they have an android as well. And when their contract time is up, I know that, atm not one of them is planning on another iPhone.

Get your facts right, Mike! Your above statement is just AAPL sales hype reguritated! There are stacks of smartphones that have batteries that will last ALL day, even with heavy usage. But iPhone 5s is NOT one of them

You are talking about Austin in the US. The world is one hell of a lot bigger than Austin, one hell of a lot bigger than the USA as well. I think you will find that's what hko2012 was talking about.
Something else I find a bit whack is the comment by tmbfmh about Windows "copied" from Apple. I also started using a computer for business in the 80's, 1986 to be precise, in the printing arena. The Apple product was $17,000 and was nowhere even close to what I needed. The IBM compatible (what they were called in those days) was $5,000 with the software of PageMaker 4 and CorelDraw 4 was exactly what I needed. Both systems were very much different. But then...low and behold! A couple of years down the track, the Apple system (same price, mind you) does what the IBM compatible can!
Both eco-systems have copied from each other right from the start! To say that only one copies from the other if hubris.

Apple competes in ALL smartphone markets. It is just that it is successful in the the higher end market so it suits everyone (you know who I mean) to say that that is the market they want.
The reason why iPhones work so well is because they are functioning in/on a closed eco-system. When you jail break an iPhone the story is compellingly different. There are a multitude of reviews that show and prove which phones are the fastest, which multitask best, which have the best graphics, screen, cam, reception, gimmicks etc. etc. etc.
Children climb out from under your BIG umbrella and experience what is out in this big wide world of ours and do it objectively NOT subjectively and you will see...Apple, Google, Samsung, Nokia...The real winner is US! The consumers

  • Tim Cook to meet Samsung CEO over patent claims [View news story]
    Definitely a hoax.

Especially when you consider that in 2006 the were said to be only 10bn nickels in existence then there cannot possibly be a delivery of $1bn worth of nickels now can there?

That aside, if you google this news comment you will find the truth.

  • Will The Decline Of Nokia Continue? [View article]
    Mahummad Bazil

I actually wrote a really long comment relating to the recent almost 150% growth in share price and everything else positive re: Nokia stock recently and looking to the future and how much brighter it is now but I decided not to waste my time. Instead I will just ask...

Where have you been the last 6 months??? Off planet????

  • Samsung's New Strategy Is A Worry For Apple [View article]
So using your print shop analogy you don't care if Samsung parts are in the iPhone. So if you don't care about who manufactures or who designs what parts then why do you make such a noise about Samsung's chips? Seems a contradiction to me. On one hand your are saying as long as the product is good, who cares who the manufacturer is but at the same time you make a different set of rules for Samsung. Sounds like simple Samsung hate/Apple love to me when the truth is that it is just a book by a different author. You might not like the read but millions do...
