      While I have a small, long position on Siri, I must, nevertheless, question your use of the plural "sources." For all of its faults in this much delayed merger decision, at least DOJ has had a record of not a single leak, let alone "leaks."

      Another, more likely, explanation for the delay is a negotiation over how much spectrum, if any, the merged entity is willing to provide for "public service" of some sort. If either the DOJ or the FCC wanted to torpedo this deal, it could have done so last year.

      Tata's cheap car will not be exported to this country because it fails to meet U,S. (or Canadian) safety standards. The car gives new meaning to the words "unsafe at any speed." -- at least "unsafe" as those words have come to be defined in our market.       Fair enough. But if I were to trade in an out of gold, I think I would have looked a bit harder at one of the mining stocks, instead.
      On a broader horizon, should the White House fall to either Obama or Clinton, then tax implications will, unfortunately, raise their ugly head in most future trading.
      Finally, I cheer for the Air Force every day of the year, but one.

      I agree with Matt on GLD. In fact, I jumped in three weeks ago.
      However, one should be aware of the different tax treatment the IRS slaps on GLD. Hint: "collectibles&quo...
      In fairness to Matt, he is not the only advisor of late to not mention the prospect of a 28% long term tax bite, rather than 15%.
      Tax implications aside, there is also the uncharted scenario of what would happen if GLD turns south sharply.
      Nevertheless, I remain long, long, long on GLD. Best case: it will serve the needs of my portfollio for many years and then pass to the kids with a step-up in basis. How's that for "long"?
      Finally, Matt is understandably a proud USAFA grad, so permit me one more comment: Go Army! Beat Air Force!
