  • Apple Should Secure This Memory Technology Before Its Competition Does [View article]
RS Rambus needed it, they are patent trolls and are still at it.
It will be interesting to watch what is in the works that Kip was referring to as new technologies emerging...

Thanks for the heads up on Crossbar and your article.

There was a small company that had patents that Micron bought up through the Elpida Spansion bankruptcy that has potential for Micron in RRAM.

At the Credit Suisse tech conference a question was asked about other companies coming in to play... Kip said that memory was changing and that it would be like trying to hit a moving target. Was he talking about RRAM?
I took that to read that with works in progress, like the cube, ( maybe another collaboration), Micron was not sitting still on "new" technologies.

The question is who is developing the best patents and is Intel involved?
I would like to know more about the Cube and why they let Samsung and others in, would they do the same with this if they have something?

A consortium has a way of nullifying an independent.

Intel could, it competes with the SSD's and compliments or nurtures when it comes to the HMC and tsv. With Microns announcement of their new process to compete with Intel, Intel might want to buy the competition. It has been a strange week with Micron.

  • Apple's ARM Business On Track To Mimic Intel's x86 Model [View article]
Odd that I see Apple different than all of you, yes they want performance but even more, they want to be cutting edge at their price point. Granted for most Intel people, Apple isn't cutting edge and for Apple people they are good enough at what they do.

Apple wants to be unique with their products and make gobs of money and if they can one up Samsung along the way, beautiful. The formula is to be good at "whatever", control their own destiny, not rely on others (unless you have to) and make lots of money. The rest is used as leverage for the money, the uniqueness on "whatever" can be by, "whoever".

  • Intel: OK, Where Are The Apple 'A' Chips Really Going? [View article]
If Intel bought Imagination technologies they would have the PowerVr and Imagination just bought MIPS an Armh alternative and to make things interesting Intel I think still has a position in Imagination technologies!

Or why hasn't Apple picked up Imagination and bypassed the Armh license?

I'm not smart enough to answer these "why nots" Anyone?
