There are plenty of RSS aggregators out there for all platforms and devices. For just one Google Reader lookalike: Feedly. And Google Reader users are flooding to other apps. I think that the declaration of the death of RSS is much exaggerated!
Admittedly, many of these apps depend on syncing with Reader. But its demise is forcing everyone to change that. Feedly says the transition will be seamless and users won't notice a difference on July 1st.

One thing that the financial meltdown has exposed is the uselessness of the "financial advisor". Consulting one does not increase one's total return; it only adds to the cost. The stark realities of today's investment environment don't need explanation. Nor do these advisors have any solutions that don't slap us in the face. I had a Merrill Lynch account for nearly 30 years. I don't anymore. And I'm doing much better, thank you.
