  • Utility Solar Projects: Local Shakedowns Could Destroy Investment Momentum [View article]
Taxing marijuana would be insane! But free, clean, solar energy, well, big brother wants his cut of that. And don't forget to send big oil their subsidy checks this month.

I'm not ready to make a prediction in silver, but to me it looks to be trading sideways and narrowing.

  • Harbin Electric to be sold for $750 million [View article]
I agree that many short sellers are, well, slimy. However, when actual fraud is discovered, it is healthy for everyone. Yeah, they front run the rest of us, but that's how they are compensated for their research. Outright lies and artificial price manipulation are entirely unethical, I just don't think that this is one of those cases. I have been burned on Chinese stock fraud before; it's a rampant problem.
Also, why would Mr. Yang continue to push to buy the company at a price that is higher than the stock ever reached, and is much, much higher than it is now? It doesn't seem kosher.

It is a hoax. Check SEC's website. It has been confirmed as a hoax on many other sites, including zerohedge. Accept it.

  • From GT Solar to GT Advanced Technologies - Business Continues to Strengthen [View article]
SOLR is also on the short list of stocks on magicformulainvesting.... That stock screener has given me many long term winners in the past. I have been looking at the solar industry for awhile, and I think this is the only company I am going into. AMAT is a fairly close second if you want a larger established market cap. I am going to wait a day or two to buy in as it has extended out of its bollinger bands today, and looking at its historical charts, always retreats for a day or two after doing so.

Venerability, that story is a hoax. Can you not accept that some companies defraud investors?

Check out the pricing on put options. Not a good indicator for anyone thinking about getting bullish.

  • A 50% fall in Chinese inventories over the past 2 months - from 600K tons to 300K tons - suggests the country will soon have to step up copper imports, giving support to the price. With much of the commodity sector having gotten hit lately, copper has held its own, suggesting this information is priced in.  [View news story]
We all know how reliable Chinese inventory reports are, especially when HSBC, JPM, and GS all are long copper. Google bbc copper bubble for a very interesting report.

  • Goldman Sees Substantial Rally in Copper [View article]
I'm seeing the same wedge, with a very clear bear head and shoulders that already broke. The wedge is even clearer in FCX. BBC has done a documentary series recently basically insinuating that goldman and others are fraudulently trying to raise the price of copper. I am short FCX.

So...a warrant is a call option on a basket of securities. Why not just buy options on single stocks I like?

  • Dennis Gartman's Unique Gold Investment Strategy [View article]
I personally am hesitant to use silver as a hedge against fiats or a real decline in the s&p. Because of its industrial demand, its price declines when world markets decline. A casual glance of a chart showing silver spot and s&p 500 from 08-09 will confirm this. With AGQ's double exposure, you'd better be damn sure you are on the right side of it. UGL trades 200% of gold bullion. I'd look at UGL if I wanted the ultimate fiat hedge.

Same old, tired argument: you buy food/gas/houses/etc. with cash therefore, gold is worthless. Follow it up with a remark about how "goldbugs" are crazy, gun toting libertarian survivalists...I win.
Of course, to believe that argument, you have to be very blind to the fact that, instead of losing half of your pot in 2008-09 in securities, you could have made money holding gold.

Where are all of the rabid nflx bulls that usually haunt these threads...no one? Might actually be safe to dip my toes in the 'put' pond finally. It took quite a while for rationality to win out. Anyone have a new price target?
