  • Robert W. Baird raises its price target on Tesla Motors (TSLA) to $118 after missing a turn on the automaker's road to triple digits. The color from the investment firm focuses on the long-term potential for the Model X and Generation III, indicating that the PT only factors in moderate share price appreciation over the next few years. TSLA +3.3% premarket to $97.20. [View news story]
I'm sure the Tesla is an incredible experience but how many wealthy people out there are (1) there ?? (2) willing to give up convenience (gassing up real quick) versus plugging in for hours. If ever there was a cult following Tesla is it

  • More weekend buzz on Tesla Motors (TSLA) (previous): Shares will be on watch Monday following a Barron's cover story that pitches the case that a triple-digit share price is unjustified. Two things to consider for the EV automaker's long-term potential: 1) Will the cost of electric batteries come down as Tesla rolls out its Model X and Gen III? Opinion is sharply divided. 2) While CEO Elon Musk says he sees sales reaching 30K-40K per year soon, if you crunch the numbers it appears investors are betting on sales reaching a level of hundreds of thousands a year. Despite Tesla's transformative tech, as the company eventually enters the mass-market segment valuation could fall back in line with peers. [View news story]
but will that even matter if demand just isn't there for the III ?? these electric cars are "pains" and if the price of oil drops dramatically, which a lot of people are predicting, then how attractive is the EV? man so many factors and i just see this whole Tesla thing as a fad

Elon Musk is one of the modern-day great ones (ala Steve Jobs) and the Barron's article is no knock against him. I am a huge fan of Musk, call me a "Musketeer" i guess, but this stock's current value is idiotic and makes no sense, that's the whole point of the cover story. $TSLA drops to Earth quicker than it shot to the moon ..

it feels like a lot of emotion in here. this whole thing reminds me of Apple, the greatest newest product that everybody wants, huge buzz, then what happens.. other companies just copy them, make the same product at better margins, becoming more popular than the original.. Apple still maintains their arrogance as their share price gets obliterated.. Elon Musk hangs up on Barron's.. arrogance. GM F etc will copy Tesla in no time if the EV even becomes a popular thing..

  • Tesla's (TSLA) a short says Barron's Bill Alpert in a cover story which rehashes familiar arguments, but notes the shares - recently essentially unborrowable - can now be had for a single-digit interest rate. Perhaps the most interesting part of the story is Elon Musk hanging up on Bill Alpert during an interview for the piece: "I have no interest in an article that debates what we consider to be an obvious point - which is that there is a dramatic reduction in battery costs ... I am terminating this interview." [View news story]
I think you guys are missing the whole point of the Barron's cover story. It's quite simple... The company Tesla is... wonderful. But the current stock price/valuation of $TSLA is... ridiculous!

  • Apple Earnings: What's Next? [View article]
AAPL remains a great growth company, it sold off significantly on ridiculous rumors, rumors that Tim Cook just dismissed in the call. The growth in China was 67% yoy and Tim Cook has stated China will be the biggest market for AAPL. Cook stated here in the call that strong demand wasn't able to be met and that it will be met in this current quarter. This is a selloff for the history books. it simply doesn't add up.

so earnings get announced right after the bell, then we have to wait a full hour for Tim "Ho-Hum" Cook to deliver the address. i am dreading that hour, as the stock will likely start moving in a direction right after earnings, and could take a dramatic turn as the words start coming out of Ho-Hum's mouth..
