It's ok for the stock market to gyrate and go volatile...but when pm's take a dive, all the bears come out. The whacky part of it all is that gold is real, paper assets are a promise...which one will end badly...

Nothing "religious" in his response, just cool logic. I prefer sound money, hard assets. Don't get so "religious" on the fake market. We all know the economy is in ruins.

Most are not doomsdayers, that is a common misconception. For instance, I hold physical because I do not believe in the dollar's buying power long-term....not because I expect an apocalypse. Then, your name says it...

Lots of schadenfreude going around in the anti-gold camp. I think there is an obvious lack of trust in the system that gold bulls have that threatens those people still entrenched in that very same system. No need to enjoy the suffering of others though, regardless of one's camp.

Gold is money. It is one of very few real, tangible things that can even be called money. It is more money than the IOUs you hold in your wallet.

Here's what gold bears don't get: Most Gold bulls are in this for the long game, so a 2 week, 2 month, or 2 year slide is not even enough for most of us to even think about liquidating. We are not concerned with your thesis. By the time I cash out of my gold position, the author will probably no longer be an author, and SA will not be around...Gold is money, and it is an asset class to be part of several others. It's called diversification.

  • Silver: The Natural Hedge Against Bitcoin [View article]
Real money is something backed by something of value. Gold and silver have served that purpose longer than fiat money has been around. Fiat money is debt. The world doesn't have to end for me to have metals. You keep your paper, I'll keep my metals. In 10-20 years we'll see who has buying power.
