  • In tandem with its Q4 report, Web.com (WWWW) is filing to issue 7M new shares at an offering price of $13.02. The company is also filing to sell 16.4M shares currently held by insiders, at the same offering price. Web.com says it may use the proceeds from the former offering to pay down debt or fund acquisitions. In spite of the offerings, shares are up 3.6% AH thanks to the company's earnings beat.  [View news story]

  • Maybe Sony's (SNE) Howard Stringer was serious when he talked of offering a "different kind of TV set." The WSJ reports Sony wants to launch an "Internet-based alternative to cable TV service," and has held talks with TV network owners. But unsurprisingly, network owners could be unwilling to play ball, out of a fear of upsetting cable operators. Google (GOOG) and Apple (AAPL) can probably sympathize (I, II).  [View news story]
