  • Chesapeake Energy (CHK) says Aubrey McClendon will retire as CEO effective April 1. The CHK board says its extensive review of alleged conflicts of interest and other matters involving McClendon has thus far found no improper conduct; a final report will be completed in mid-February. CHK +10.6% AH. [View news story]
Aubrey McClendon made CHK into the outstanding company it is today. I laud him for his achievement for which he can be rightly proud. The company will not be the same without him.

  • Mr. Icahn, Chesapeake Energy Shareholders Stand Behind You [View article]
I am a CHK and CHKM stockholder. In my judgment, this article is pure crap! McClendon is CHK! He made it what it is--and in doing so, has rewarded it stockholders royally. I recently voted my shares as the CHK board recommended. The two gentlemen standing for re-election are fine competent fellows--any company would consider itself blessed to have their kind on their board....What I am curious about is this: Who is behind all these negative article on McClendon and CHK???? This whole business smells and smells badly. My advice is stand by McClendon and buy CHK!

  • Why Chesapeake Needs To Dump CEO Aubrey McClendon [View article]
This is a tempest in a teapot. It clearly part of an orchestrated attempt to remove McClendon. McClendon is Chesapeake. I am backing him all the way--and buying CHK on dips.

Having read the above, I would advise the reader to BUY. Home builder stocks may not go up today nor tomorrow--but they will go up eventually, and maybe even sooner that we would expect. One think is certain: they are cheap.

Go visit a Penney's store. You will see that things are looking up. You can see it on the faces of the sales clerks, on the well stocked shelves, and on the heavy traffic moving through the aisles.

  • When Everybody Loves AIG Shares, It Might Be Time To Sell [View article]
Sometimes I wonder if there are not "forces" out there that are working to drive down AIG shares so they can sweep them up for the next run up. I have seen it before.

  • Morgan Stanley Is Far More Risky Than Investors Think [View article]
I am suspicious of negative articles like this. Their aim is to drive down MS stock. One can only wonder who is behind all this? That is the question the media and investors should be asking.

  • Chesapeake (CHK -5.4%) opens trading as the S&P's biggest loser after a report of alleged bid rigging by CHK and Encana (ECA -3.2%), plus a story that J.P. Morgan declined to do loan business with CHK for more than 10 years because of credit quality, while Goldman Sachs took the business.  [View news story]
These negative articles appearing at certain critical moments seems to me to be designed to depress CHK stock and/or drive McClendon out. In short, I am suspicious this business.

  • Chesapeake Energy (CHK +4.2%) pops higher at the open after Friday's news of Carl Icahn's 7.6% stake and his call for replacing at least four current board members. Oppenheimer believes rejecting Icahn's demands would prove CHK's board has not upheld its fiduciary responsibilities and would further discredit the board and CHK management.  [View news story]
McClendon and his team have made CHK into a great company and created much wealth in doing so. I appreciated what they have done. I am standing by McClendon and his associates. They have my vote!

  • Directors at Chesapeake Energy (CHK) recruit Anadarko (APC) senior VP of international and deep-water operations Robert Douglas Lawler to succeed Aubrey McClendon as CEO, WSJ says. Lawler, a seasoned industry veteran, will join CHK on June 17 and says he "looks forward to generating value for shareholders in the years ahead." Besides plugging a multi-billion dollar gap between the company's spending and cash flow, Lawler's greatest challenge might be dealing with McClendon, whose contractual well investment rights mean he will likely be a part of the picture at CHK even if he isn't at the helm. [View news story]
If they are smart, they will continue to draw upon McClendon's knowledge and vision.
