  • Today In Commodities: Good-Bye Stocks, Hello Managed Futures [View article]
Here is my two cents, if you are looking for a free market based solely on price discovery, then look no further then natural gas. No fraud or manipulation here just too much supply lol. Although a little less supply today as the latest inventory build was -1-bcf less then the consensus of 10-bcf giving Natural Gas a little boost on high volume closing over the 20day average first time since Oct, encouraging if it holds that level.

  • S&P 1300 - Coming Soon To A Market Near You [View article]
I'm referring to the generally inverse relationship between indices and the us dollar index. As I am bullish on the dollar, am bearish on the indices. 2nd point, I have seen the Nasdaq 100 move higher after it fails to make new low then it heads up and Sp500 follows, this is intra day price action. With the Nasdaq 100 close to its high, It looks like it wants to test that area, over 2,400 if it can. If the SP500 can reclaim its 200day and hold that level, it might be interesting to see what happens. Either way it will be a great sale.

  • S&P 1300 - Coming Soon To A Market Near You [View article]
Dollar bears had most of the year to take the us dollar index under its April low but they couldn't do it, so I would be really surprised if they can do that now given what is happening in Euroland which makes me think an upside reaction is likely just when is the question. One strategy I like is short futures vs short OTM puts 1 to 1, cover upside with calls or stops. However the Nasdaq 100 looks like it wants to move higher, if it can exceed 2,400, it might be off to the races taking the sp500 along for the ride maybe into new highs as well.

  • S&P 1300 - Coming Soon To A Market Near You [View article]
If the S&P500 can make it to 1300 or even higher, it will be a great time to sell, maybe even outright short although option combinations might be better since this market has a tendency to smoke anyone who shorts it. It will be interesting to see what happens if the US dollar index can breach 79.539 then 80, which corresponds to around 1.3200 in the Euro currency, then business is bound to pick up or in the case of the SP500 possibly get flushed but first the shorts have to be cleaned out and I think that's what been happening this week.

  • Today In Commodities: Kicking The Can [View article]
The expectation for tomorrow's Nat gas inventory survey is forecast of 10-bcf added to storage , low of 4-bcf and high of 24-bcf but given last week 50 degree temps were seen, it will be most interesting to see how nat gas responds to the number.

It might go higher then 15%, according to Baker Hughes Rotary Rig count, number of rigs drilling for nat gas dropped 6 to 865 down 7% from prev month and 9% from previous year. If there is anything this market needs it is a reduction of supply.

  • The S&P 500 Tests Support Again Thursday [View article]
The S&P500 futures were forming a Symmetrical Triangle which broke out to the downside although follow through selling remains to be seen as it has a tendency to reverse direction especially with hints of more stimulus.

  • Today In Commodities: Downside Risks [View article]
It's a moment of truth for the S&P500 as its now challenging its 200day average again, is third time the charm? Nasdaq 100 exceeded its 200day several weeks ago and held it five times since closing over its 9ma today 2.77% off its 12 month high. Crude oil if can exceed 95 might try for 97 esp if further upside in the indices. The bears have to be getting nervous with Nat gas as they can't seem to break it under 3.800, what are they waiting for?

  • The S&P 500 will hit 1,400 within the next couple of months, asserts Federated's Phil Orlando. So don't bother with Treasurys, get out of defensive stocks and move into sectors that are positioned to benefit from the resumption of economic growth we appear to be seeing now. Kanaly Trust's James Shelton agrees; his top picks include: iShares Russell 1000 Growth (IWF), JPMorgan Alerian MLP Index (AMJ) and the SPDR Gold Trust (GLD). (video)  [View news story]

  • Today In Commodities: Market Challenges [View article]
So far the 50 and 200day averages are holding for the us dollar which makes me think if it can stay at these levels as well as clear its 9ma could be looking for some more upside, that will be interesting to see how the metals, indices, energies, and grains react. Also, don't have to worry about picking a bottom in Nat gas, let the market tell you, so far 3.800 in Dec. might be the area to watch.

  • Today In Commodities: Managing Expectations [View article]
I'm taking a watch and wait approach for now to see what the us dollar does, it is still over its daily 200 average so as long as it stays over that, it could move higher resulting in lower prices in gold, sliver, crude and the indices.

  • Will Coffee Prices Continue To Soar? [View article]
Coffee might be a good trade in the short term playing the demand side but wouldn't want to stay too long best to wait for better prices.

Nice charts, however oversold markets can get even more oversold especially if s&p500 is flushed down the drain taking a few of these market with it like crude oil.

Can't fight the Fed otherwise treasuries are a screaming short here with yields on the ten year under 2 percent, that doesn't happen very often. A double long ETF for nat gas? Hmm being single long is bad enough lol, unfortunately nat gas could test 3.5000 although noticed today's volume was 2nd highest for the contract. The grains are looking good but with corn and soybeans, if they don't hold current levels, well look out below, am watching 5.00 in corn and 1050 in beans.
