However, liquidating the 200+ equity positions in the SMA will realize substantial capital gains and a big tax bite. Are there any ways to minimize this impact - for example, strategies for slowly unwinding, or ways of exchanging baskets of positions for ETF shares? Or at least ways of calculating whether its worthwhile to make to the switch?
