  • Gilead: No Reason To Panic Here [View article]
The current run rate is well in excess of managements ultra conservative guidance and is accelerating. Last week's TRx was 10,500. Foreign scripts add more fuel and may go as high as 50% domestic.

  • 50% Upside For Gilead In 2015 [View article]
Anyone betting GILD will outrun CELG in 2015? There is a lot of overhead resistance at 110, but a top and bottom line beat on Feb 3 should blow through it now that the race between ABBV and GILD finished with ABBV bringing up the rear with a 2% market share.

It makes complete sense. Biotech is no different than other enterprises. Investors own the company, have put their money at risk and deserve a shot at a fair return on investment.

FWIW, I've seen estimates that the industry has spent over $50 billion on developing an effective Hep C regimen. Gilead offers a risk-free cure.

Hedges are insurance policies and only as good as the counter-party. Some are futures contracts, some are third party deals.

  • Gilead Sciences' Recent Trading Pattern Is Much To Do About Nothing [View article]
It may be a while before Gilead's triple header will hit the shelves, however this six week combo sets the limbo bar for Merck. Abbvie will be burnt toast.

  • Everything Has Changed: Oil, Saudi Arabia, And The End Of OPEC [View article]
The premise of the article is oil will be replaced by alternative energy sources. This is a fallacy. Aside from coal and natural gas what other economic sources currently exist or are on the agenda? The world has plenty of coal but it is dirty, and natural gas does not readily lend itself as transportation fuel. Solar, wind, and nuclear are still non-competitive and will most likely remain so until oil reaches $150 - $200 per bbl.

I believe the Saudi's have shot themselves in the foot. Aside from oil they have nothing else except money, and money buys everything, except security. Yet their actions are reducing their income to gain market share which may never recover lost revenue. However, they are punishing their enemy - Iran. Lot to be said for that. Let's hope the Ayatollahs blink first.

Oil will remain a mainstay of energy consumption for another century.

Not likely. That would be money down a ra thole. Abbvie has a weak pipeline and Humira is about to come off patent.

Gilead will continue to acquire smaller biotech companies or license promising new drugs that fit Gilead's vision, e.g' HIV, HCV, HCB, NASH, and oncology.

  • The Ingredients For An Imminent Bear Market Are In Place [View article]
If 5% GDP growth in the US is not "robust" then what is? And will absurdly low oil prices juice our economy even further, and pull the rest of the world out of economic malaise?

China will be a leading indicator.
