  • The Fed's prodigious bond-buying has pushed its balance sheet to above $3T, with total assets rising $48B in the past week to a record $3.01T as of Wednesday. The balance sheet is now more than triple its size on September 10, 2008, the week before Lehman Brothers collapsed. "We're in uncharted territory," says former Fed economist Julia Coronado.

I bet each bond they buy is worth 20% less than face value, because they are buyingg bonds at the top of the market

  • The Boeing (BA) battery fire on a Japan Airlines flight was "unprecedented" and a “very serious air safety concern," the head of the NTSB said today, adding that the Board is still trying to determine what caused the events surrounding the troubled Dreamliner. Boeing says it is "working around the clock" to resolving the issues but is "not permitted to comment directly on the ongoing investigations." [View news story]
One of the original engineers on the 787 said this jet was too heavy and would crack due tp its composite construction. I think this jet is doomed and the battery is just the beginning.

  • Glitches in Boeing's (BA) new Dreamliner are spooking some travelers and have drawn the attention of U.S. regulators, but for investors looking to buy the dip, the Dreamliner's problems aren't Boeing's only headwind. Its defense business accounts for over 40% of sales and risks getting hurt by still-unresolved D.C. budget cuts, and a UBS analysis suggests orders for commercial planes may slow in the years ahead. [View news story]
It's amazing the FAA gives the all clear signal when they don't even know what the problems are. This plane will go down as the Edsel of airliners.

  • The Great Recession Is Over: Time To Back Up The Truck [View article]
I laugh when people on these boards recite the nonsense they read in the news. The growing shale and oil industry here? How does that help the average American considering 2012 was the highest prices on energy ever! The other point I have is that most of the jobs we create are in retail or the local McDonald's which are sub ten dollar an hr jobs. You don't buy a house with 10 bucks an hr. Keep the propaganda up so far not many are figuring out the truth.

  • Further measures to reduce the deficit are necessary for the U.S. to hold onto its AAA rating, Moody's senior credit officer Steven Hess tells the WSJ. He expects said measures will soon be forthcoming, and Moody's will await the outcome of those negotiations before any rating change. [View news story]
Any half way intelligent person can see that this country needs a downgrade. We spend 50% more than we take in every year and have debt of 16.5 trillion! What are the crooks at Moody's waiting for a default?

  • The Great Recession Is Over: Time To Back Up The Truck [View article]
The mortgage business is now 95% back stopped by the govt. The economy has 1.2 trillion of funny money injected by the govt in the form of deficit spending. The interest rates of this country are held down by the Fed, and we are basically raising taxes on everyone. This economy has not grown in the last decade if you take out the govt. Obama was right if your successful its because of the govt.

  • An agreement is "within sight," but not yet done, says the President (webcast), apparently using his address to push negotiations over the finish line. The deal on the table extends current income tax rates on those within a certain income threshold, but does not appear to prevent payroll tax rates from going back up. S&P 500 +0.6%[View news story]
He is going to tax and not cut one single thing on the spending side. Wall St wants a deal of do nothing like is proposed. Someday soon Wall St will see a drop like never seen before. Reason being every industry in this country is supported by the Fed. Wake up we are going broke and no one wants to face it.
