  • New versions of iOS and Mac OS X will be unveiled at Apple's (AAPL +0.8%) June 10-14 WWDC conference, the company announces. Meanwhile, with shares near $400, the sell-side is much more cautious in its post-earnings comments than it was at higher levels. "These Apples won't harvest before fall," writes Deutsche's Chris Whitmore, disappointed at earnings call remarks suggesting major product launches won't arrive until autumn. "Apple needs to introduce a 5-inch iPhone, a new 5S, and a low cost iPhone." Jim Cramer wasn't pleased with the call either. "This is the kind of conference call that was a revolt against management ... management is in complete denial." (previous[View news story]
Superior in what way? Screen size is a poor metric. Though i disagree with Cooks defeatest attitude toward large screens, clearly $AAPL is flat out LYING. They will introduce a large phone in due time. It will be sexy, slim, powerful, efficient and USER FRIENDLY. Samsung gets sexy slim, powerful and BBery gets powerful. Thats the bottom line. He 110% right that as long as there are 100 of millions of iOS devices apple will widen its platform moat. They just need to survive until teh tech and manufacturing allow them to be all five of above typical apple characteristics. Summer is a buying opportunity. That is for sure.

While I share your concern, I expect that their investments ove r,at 24 months will pay off. They invested in natural gas before it tanked, and are diversifying into heavier stuff.

Three years out you have a cash cow with a diversified business. I am betting on massive ramp in earnings over next four quarters.

Regardless of managements financial engineering issues, the companies interest in Bacchus is a great catalyst.

As far as I can tell the stock is selling off because of the ConocoPhillips strong arm regarding END's purchase of three wells late last year. The problem is that the February debt offering is contingent on that deal closing and CP is dickering trying to get out of their share of future cleanup costs on the wells.

END has untill June 15th to close on the deal before the Bonds are recalled. Worst case scenario is the bonds get recalled END takes a $25-$50m hit and they look for another aquisition. Best case is deal closes, no ramifications on delay and the stock jumps back to $12 range awaiting results of Bacchus well #2 in Q3.

  • Not All Chinese Stocks Are Frauds - Expect Surviving Companies to Trade Up [View article]
$SPRD is a great play on Hong Kong mobile market. 75% of their revenue is in HK. Definately a growth segment. As i have seen as HK goes so does the mainland. $SPRD could have high double and possibly triple digit earnings growth for a few years to come. Plus their puts trade at a very attractive level. I am short July $13 SPRD puts for 18% in premium.
