  • General Motors recalls by the numbers [View news story]
I agree with Omnimoeish. I don't know how much money the rest of you have lost on GM in the past but it still seems to be effecting your investing. If you buy GM today your going to have more money 12 months from now.

  • Testing shows recalled General Motors cars safe to drive [View news story]
I think GM's been acting admirably since the recall by willingly expanding its recall to all vehicles it thinks might possibly have a safety issue. The old GM would have just left those cars on the road and denied, denied, denied. I'm proud to own a small part of this company and will continue to own it as long as it keeps acting this way… and keeps paying its dividend.

  • Retirement Strategy: The Active Manager Takes Action, While The Passive Manager Remains Passive [View article]
I think dumping GM right now is a mistake. with limited liability after their bankruptcy filing and the recent price dip I'm buyer. Bad press fades. Just look at toyota, or ford, or any major auto manufacturer. They've all had major recalls but it doesn't effect longer term sales.

  • Review Of 'The Energy Of Nations' By Jeremy Leggett [View article]
I wouldn't say this is "Global Warming Boogey Man" nonsense. The book is essentially a new economics text book that takes a new perspective on economics and ecology and how one effects the other. An interesting concept in the book is Energy Return on Investment (EROI) which is a wonderful idea on a human level but has no value to an investor looking to make a profit.

  • General Electric (GE -0.7%) says it's agreed to examine expanding its cleanup of pollutants from a section of New York’s Hudson River after state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli sought an investor vote on a study to widen the project. GE, which has already spent over $1B on cleanup efforts, discharged as much as 1.3M pounds of carcinogens into the river over a three-decade span, will complete a review this year to determine whether removing more contaminated dirt will help reduce future penalties. [View news story]
How does that make me wrong? I said the hudson is getting deeper. And the state does not want it to get deeper b/c it will collapse the lincoln and holland tunnel.

@Sami12159: The state is not responsible for "deepening" the river. In fact the state does not want the river any deeper. It has naturally gotten deeper as the shore lines have been developed and expanded into the hudson. This is a problem because it increases the risk of exposing the Lincoln and Holland Tunnel super structures and could cause them to collapse. (the more ya know...)
