  • Here's The One Way Tesla Can Survive [View article]
What the author calls Elon Musk's "ego" I call "vision". Elon isn't building cars to satisfy a luxury niche. He's building electric cars that just happen to be awesome because he believes that climate change is the world's most pressing problem. He thinks that humans who have the capability to address the problem should do so.

This concept is irrespective of all the ways that materials used to build the car contribute to resource extraction and/or pollution issues. It's also irrespective of whether we will be driving cars 50 years from now. --Just trying to get ahead of the commenters who will argue anything for the sake of argument. I get it. Nothing is perfect. But I applaud Elon for having the vision, smarts, and gumption to dream and create.

  • 'Even When You Win, You Can't Win' - Netflix Edition [View article]
Finally, an author who takes an objective look at the "story". Thank you for telling the story without grinding an ax into the hearts of the bulls or bears. It's just a story. If we can profit from it, we should! Just be careful. This stock will rip your face off if you're not on the right side of its trajectory. Trade the tape, not your bias. If you're long, stay long until the analysts start fading. They have a lot invested in their version of the story for the foreseeable future. The analysts are promoting the company line that international buildout, complete in 2017, will produce profits. We'll see.

Thanks again for ratcheting down the noise.

  • Starbucks Ends 'Race Together' Campaign But Continues The Fight [View article]
hey WR007, that is a great idea. Setting up shops in "underprivileged" areas, where the company could start hiring some of those 10,000 young adults it says it is going to hire, would be an amazing thing. There is much more punch to this action than writing a slogan on a cup. Maybe Howard Schultz will read this article. I did a quick search online: there are zero Starbucks shops in Ferguson.

  • Nordic American Tankers - Bullish In 2015 [View article]
A reply to my own post, ha-ha. It's nice to see some movement in this stock, finally. I'll place a stop under my basis and cross my fingers. Is fingers crossed a good strategy? I've learned a valuable lesson during my time in NAT. I don't understand its business model. Too financially complicated with too many global influences for my pea brain to comprehend. Thanks to all for the good posts here. glta

  • Lessons From Another Tough Week And The Big Day Ahead [View article]
Thanks for explaining, in English, how all these forces are in play, and the effects they have on each other. Your article helps me pull together the gyrations of the past weeks and will keep me moving in the right direction to reposition a few more things in my portfolio.

Would you recommend KRE over individual regional banks? For example, I have been looking at Bank of Kentucky (BKYF). Thank you, and have a nice weekend!

Excellent analysis, thank you. When do you expect we'll start hearing about the impact of the drought on nut production and associated costs? California's water issues are terrible.

I can't wait to get out of this company and I hope I can do it with a gain. It has been nothing but pain. Yes, great dividend. Lousy execution. How else can they lose 8ยข when all the stars are aligned in their favor? They generate a ton of cash and spend a ton of cash that doesn't get to their bottom line. It just doesn't seem like success as defined by a market metric is in their dna.

  • Orexigen's Cardiovascular Safety Data Is A Breakthrough [View article]
I bit off a new small position this morning when the stock was at $6.85.

It is interesting to learn that Dr. John Jenkins, the FDA official whom Forbes spoke with has a checkered past, one which can be assumed haunts him. See next paragraph. (I had a feeling that guy comes with baggage.)

Aristides Capital reports in a SA article today: "According to Time magazine, in 1999 Jenkins caused the diabetes drug Avandia to be approved without an adequate post-marketing safety study, in spite of clear warning signs, and in spite of the recommendation of the FDA's chief medical officer that one was needed. It doesn't require a lot of imagination to believe he'd want to "err on the side of caution" after that debacle."

So what happens now with the EU committee meeting in mid-March to decide on Contrave?

This is such a mess. I had held a large (for me) position in OREX since spring of 2012, taking profits occasionally, but waiting with most shares for the good news. The good news came, and went. When the latest Forbes article hit the tape this afternoon, I sold all my shares in After Hours to protect the profits I had left as the stock was rapidly tanking. I'll reconsider when things settle down, if they ever do.

It's obvious there are ulterior motives at play amongst many parties, including the company and the FDA. Will we ever know who to believe? I expect to hear of a shareholder lawsuit any minute now.

  • Wall Street's Current Play: 'Immunotherapy Of Cancer' [View article]
It's rare to find any decent news on PPHM. I can't tell you how appreciative I am of the timing of this article (and the comprehensive review). I was getting close to selling my shares since they have done nothing in over two years. Based on your confidence, I might add more. I'm not going to mortgage my home, though. :-) GLTA

Do you suppose that BLL stock will be dead money while the merger process moves forward? What of the aerospace side of the company: how will those contributions fall to the bottom line? Thank you for a good explanation and exploration of what's involved in this merger.
