  • Nokia: Don't Fall For The Bear Trap, Keep Buying [View article]
I'm looking at jumping in long NOK at some point, but can anyone give me insight regarding the NSN. I see the margin for the quarter was outstanding, but I also see the revenue from NSN declining substantially. I would appreciate knowledgeable insight/analysis from one of the longs here regarding the intermediate and long term business case of NSN.

Obviously Nokia sees a future if they bought back Siemen's 50% stake.

    Thanks in advance.

  • What I Want To See In Nokia's Q2 Report [View article]
Found details on the Nokia Siemens Network. I see the good results on the margins increasing, but looking at the reports I see sales volume dropped on NSN. What's the bull case regarding NSN?

Astute point for now @ Stephen, but isn't the future growth of MDM the real story versus current realized revenue?

@ p21 can you give a link to the Cramer youtube video you're referencing( I'm guessing it's on shorting in general not BBRY). The mention of Cramer makes the hair on my neck stand up. CNBC I feel is clearly "cheering" for BBRY demise. On days when stock is strong you hear nothing. When the bashers throw a punch and the stock drops they do a segment.

    Have others noticed this?

  • BlackBerry (BBRY +4.3%) gets a lift from a positive note from RBC's Mark Sue (Market Perform), who now thinks 3.5M BB10 phones were shipped in the May quarter (up from a prior 2.75M) thanks to new Z10 carrier deals and channel fill. Sue adds "BB10 demand appears to be mixed by region," with the U.K., Canada, and the Middle East seeing the strongest sales, and U.S. demand weaker. He now expects BlackBerry to report above-consensus FQ1 revenue and EPS on June 28, and thinks heavy short interest (32% of float shorted) could lead to a squeeze. (Deutsche[View news story]
Gotcha! Today's chart and the big jump @ 12:30 Eastern was weird. Ran to the 14.80 to 14.90 range and sat there the rest of the afternoon. Do you consider it a possibility that share price gets turned loose next week after expiration of the 15s?

  • BlackBerry: The Absolute Coolest Brand In South Africa [View article]
    George,

A nice piece and heartening indeed for us BBRY longs.

I have a question for those technicians here more knowledgeable than myself. The writing I see on the wall looks pretty convincing that Blackberry is back and will gain market in the coming years. The recent price action being quite negative brings me to my question.

Is it possible that one or more than one Market Maker in BBRY stock is also short shares themselves? Is it possible for a MM to be short millions or tens of millions of shares?

Seems to be one possible explanation for the price being held down.

June 28th is not great timing for BBRY as it directly precedes an American Holiday week in which many people are vacationing!

  • The Fate That Awaits BlackBerry [View article]
I like the start of your analysis regarding the trades. I'm not sure if you correct though. I'm not sure that a market maker has to "print" the ticket. If someone is selling bbry short I believe the MM can effectively "buy" those shares and hold as accumulated "inventory" of shares. This is even more likely if said MM feels they can sell the shares for a much higher price. To my knowledge the big brokerage houses make the majority of their profits in this manner. Not charging "commissions" when you and I buy or sell a 1000 shares. Signs are BBRY being "accumulated". Isn't it likely it's being accumulated by the MMs themselves as due to the short interest I'm sure they're confident they can sell out inventory at much higher levels.
