  • Greek crisis talks head into day two [View news story]
@tikigod18 Or the US. Or Russia for that matter. The US initiated the Marshall Plan in 1948 to rescue Europe. But I do think that Merkel is going to teach the Greeks a lesson and make that a demonstration to everyone else.

  • China scrambles to end stock market rout [View news story]
I raise a glass to Mr. Jim Chanos! Years ago he stated that the Chinese market was way ahead of itself and that underlying fundamentals did not warrant current stock prices. Way to go Jim! Great call!!

  • General Electric: Are Antitrust Concerns Limiting GE's Share Prospects? [View article]
Maybe it works like this. We know that the European regulators are reviewing the GE-Alstom deal. Perhaps we could broker a deal here. The US Government could okay the sale of GE's appliance business to Electrolux and the EU review board okays the sale of Alstom to GE. And we all go home and live happy ever after!!
I just got done redoing our kitchen and after visiting countless kitchen appliance showrooms I cannot believe for a moment that there is a lack of competition. Please!! After 30 minutes in these places you need to leave because the choices are daunting!!

  • NXP and Freescale Shareholders Meetings Approve Merger [View article]
Congratulations on the shareholder approval. I remain hopeful that NXP Semiconductor will not be held hostage to all of the current government oversight of some of the more recently announced mergers and acquisitions and that the US Government review will be swift.

  • Greece threatens to sue Europe [View news story]
@dunnhaupt @eternitus141 I think you are both correct. Contagion and its spread could lead to a miscalculation somewhere with unintended consequences. But it is also a pretty convenient excuse to exit stage left.
The issue for me is that the longer this plays out the greater the probability of a real miscalculation with greater financial consequences. And with China rightfully melting down ( speak of a bubble farmers opening brokerage accounts vs. tending fieldds ) things could get out of whack somewhere other than Europe!!!!

  • Europe regulators send concerns to GE over Alstom energy deal [View news story]
I just love the way that the EC makes their announcement on a late Friday afternoon. Europe will never get it!! If this is a play to actually force Alstom into the hands of Sieman's then I suggest that when European companies start M&A activity here in the US, the US government put its foot down. But in all seriousness Alstom and Europe need American investment and that is essentially good for both Europe and the United States. Why a select group of bureaucrats should be able to sit and determine the presumed economics and competitiveness of this type of deal is beyond me. The French are already on board. So how many German proxies sit on the EC committee silently rooting for Siemans. One can only wonder!

  • Greek deal not yet near as IMF team returns to D.C. [View news story]
I have the impression that Greece does not 'get it'. This is not going to go to a good place!

  • EU to warn GE on Alstom power deal [View news story]
Well if the EU does not approve the deal then I guess the US Government should state that it no longer approves the Sieman's acquisition of Dresser Rand completed just a few months ago. I think we need a level playing field here. We cannot allow China and the Europeans to purchase American companies with few exceptions from our government while our companies essentially have to go through a ringer to complete acquisitions in China and Europe. Europe more so needs to get religion-they cannot add to their global competitiveness without GE and other strong companies investing their. Europe needs to face reality not coddle their existing old infrastructure companies with a purely protectionist stance.

  • IMF calls on Fed to hold off on rate hikes [View news story]
Lagarde can barely manage to keep the Greek issue contained. What makes her think that she has the wherewithall to understand what is going on in the world's largest economy the US?

  • IMF calls on Fed to hold off on rate hikes [View news story]
From my perspective Christine Lagard's comments are just that her comments. I doubt anyone at the Federal Reserve Board would be inclined to weigh her suggestion as relevant in the policy meetings to come. There is no way that Janet Yellen would ever want the federal Reserve Board to be perceived as acting at the presumed whim of the IMF. Let me see Janet has over 30 years in economics and policy making and Lagard??????????????? Case closed!

  • New Cisco CEO Robbins names CTO, sales chief, rest of leadership team [View news story]
I have to honestly say that I am impressed already with Mr. Chuck Robbins. He displays a terrific sense of urgency in making the necessary changes in personnel so that Cisco has the best people in place to drive sales and the Company forward. Cisco needs to be extremely focused as I am convinced that with their new products they can place ever greater pressure on competitors as they exemplified in the 90's. I see very positive things ahead. Keep up the great work Mr. Robbins!!
