Schweitzer-Mauduit: Last Chance to Buy Into This Paper Tiger Before Q1 2013 Earnings [View article]
Hello Bram! Interesting article, in my opinion. Perhaps the best written of the articles on SWM I have seen over the past few months. Thank you for your efforts. Does your research show SWM to be considering acquisitions in the specialized paper industry, or an industry which would complement some of SWM's present interests? What were SWM's reasons for stopping construction efforts, and leaving the Philippines?
11% Dividend Payer The Carlyle Group Is Harvesting Great Investments [View article]
Hello David, Good article. Ihave had this on my radar for a few months now; may be time to pull the trigger. FYI: Mediaquote at top of article page said it was unavailable; could not give me any info regarding quotes. Yahoo said the dividends began August 16, 2012 - $0.11, November 15, 2012 - $0.15, and February 28, 2013 - $0.85. Scottrade lists Carlyle Group as paying $0.85 per quarter dividend, which would be the 11% you suggest. Thanks for your efforts,

Hello Ralph!
I had contacted you some time back, thanking you for the information on trusts from one of your articles in 2012. I had done some investigation, and took a position. Later, when the price fell, I added to my position. Like you, I do not consider myself a technician. However, I am mystified that the stock price has fallen; that the stock cannot do better, it seems. After your article there was an SA article on ENYTF by a Canadian, who felt that the company was saving money by its dividend reinvestment plan. Only open to Canadian citizens; however. He felt it would be a long time coming for the stock to approach $10.00 again. Perhaps you saw that article. Now the company speaks of return of capital??? Not what I signed up for; this is not a CEF!!! I admit that the stock is somewhat unique: Canadian company, US assets, etc. etc. etc. I have positions in three other trusts, two of which are energy related, and I feel comfortable with them; occasionally adding to my positions. Will take a wait and see attitude here; while I do not want to sell, and absorb the loss, I do not want to prolong the agony if this continues to stagnate, or continues to drop in price.

Some additional comments: After reading Dutch Trader's recent article, I realized that this stock was not for retirees, or people with limited descretionary investment capital. That's yours truly! If these people want to expand internationally, they should be prudent; look to licensing agreements with chocolate makers where they want to expand internationally; save the cost of shipping the refrigerated product to foreign countries, or buying machinery and building a chocolate making facility in the foreign country of their choice for a limited amount of franchisees. Perhaps though they should attempt to broaden their US base before venturing abroad. One Japanese location? They need someone who can buy fifty or one hundred franchises to get started. Cadbury, which was mentioned in an earlier post was made in the US under license by Hershy, before Kraft bought Cadbury about one year ago. Don't know how that worked out after the Kraft purchase. Hershy, I believe, has a charter which makes foreign expansion difficult. Probably a moot point now. Also, many of my European friends do not care for Hershy chocolate; complaining of a slightly sour taste to the chocolate. My wife and I prefer local chocolate, imported, or US made chocolate other than Hershy, if we are representive of chocolate consumers.
Even if we had the capital, this just does not feel right for us.
