  • Apple's Shares Will Go Nowhere [View article]
Charlie is further evidence.... myself... I use the "pad" now over my Laptop...

The nail in the coffin (perhaps) is HP getting out of the computer altogether.... nothing smells "paradigm shift" louder than a behemoth (HP) throwing their hands up in the air and yielding in deference to the established leader...

Camden: You are the canary in the coalmine IMO regarding AAPL. Your anecdotal evidence illustrates the paradigm shift personified.
I think AAPL is undervalued by almost every metric.

Francis: You haven't mentioned Google's android and their future (apparent) attempt to create an Apple-ish" ecosystem. You specifically mentioned Microsoft.

Where do you view Google against your backdrop? Android activations per day are through the roof. Do you see Google a better bet against AAPL?

    Thanks.... Jason

"Calculus was tough for me because of the way my mind works"

John: I appreciate your display of humility. I felt the exact same way when I first took Calc 1 as Freshman... strangely, with Calc 2, I understood more. However, because the way my "mind worked", I was turned off by the process. I'll explain...

Maybe it's my own fallibility, but the issue I had with higher level Math (particularly Calculus) was my distaste of "taking the word of" formulas for deriving the answer (solution), and never knowing really how I got the answer (other than "the formula told me so...."). I never went beyond Calculus II...

Ergo, I needed something tangible to wrap my arms around. Ultimately, I ended up flying fighters for the military for the early part of my career. Many of my close friends (in flight school) were engineers. Many (engineers),however, had problems making it through flight-school, since flying airplanes is considerably more "vocational" than the "engineering-type problem solving" required from their degree.

My point here is that it takes all kinds (and all disciplines). And one discipline doesn't necessarily give a blanket advantage over another one. But the 6th sense (you mentioned above) does carry weight IMO because in intersects one's discipline with real world experience... a very strong combination!

Again, thank you for your "experienced" contribution to this forum.

Just for my morbid curiosity: Does anyone in this space have any idea how much fuel economy is lost (say, per year) from underinflated tires? And second, is that number truly significant... would prefer to hear from an "engineer type" on this one..... thanks....

"Denial is a disease, not a river in Egypt. Hopium addiction is even worse."

Ok, that's it..... your zingers are so good, I now feel compelled to create a Word document and save 'em. After all, imitation is that best form of flattery!

TAS... you made very clear, concise and factual arguments. You also stated history as your backdrop as you outlined several comparisons. A person as naive as "Yep, it's me" will only tire you out and wear you down. You were smart not to get sucked in.

A typical naive American who fails to acknowledge China's egregious human rights record, yet has the temerity to rail on the US.... well... what can you say? If this individual is a fair representative of our ignorant masses, then maybe it's time to hand over the reign to someone else.

LMAO! I don't think of RIMM as a has "being" either... at least not yet. I will let the events unfold over the next 24 months to make that call.

To defend carkoo, I've made even funnier errors myself...
