"...slowing growth in iPhone sales...? iPhone sales are still growing."
If you grow 85% a quarter and then you start growing 50% or 25%... is that not the very definition of slowing growth? Don't mix up such simple financial terms, please.
"...Apple briefly becoming the most valuable company on the planet by market cap last year." It was the largest for almost all of the past year.
Pfff... market cap is a foolish metric. Funny to look at but nothing else. I mean, has half of Apple users vanished into thin air simply because its stock price went down?
"The large screens are often gimmicks to hide the fact that those manufacturers don't have the skill or want to invest the time or effort in designing and building something compact."
No... the large screens are being sold because people want to play games and watch series and movies. :-P
"You mean like Galaxy S, S2, S3, S4?"
I'm willing to bet he meant upgrades to Technical Specs and Operating System, not upgrades to its name. :-P
Sorry, my mistake. About 3/4 of Apple's revenue comes from two products (iPhone + iPad). So be sure to buy AAPL if you believe the trend up will continue... otherwise, stay away.
Sure they do but at the moment about 3/4 of Apple's revenue comes from a single product. Am I not correct?
That's why I can see why some investors think that AAPL = iPhone
Nokia has the same trouble with investors, as they think NOK = Lumia. In Nokia's case it makes less sense, since Lumia represents about 1/6 of Nokia's business.
In the end, we'll never know why investors act this way... but if we deny it and refuse to adapt our trading to their line of reasoning, as absurd as it might be, we will lose money!
The only problem with AAPL are its investors who are living like Apple = iPhone, which makes no sense at all. Nevertheless, that's the main reason I have stayed away from it. Since Apple's investors are insane, I'd rather go to the casino.

Sure, but as you can see, Nokia doesn't need to be among the top-sellers for its stock to perform better than Apple. It just needs some growth and it's getting it. NOK +20% pre-market.
Cheaper... than what already is!? 180$ to 200$ seem pretty cheap already. :-P
The problem with Apple is that eventually Apple fanatics will stop paying 70% to 80% margins because it just doesn't make sense to pay the same money to get a lot less than the competition delivers.
"If you don't like the risk/reward you see with Apple, by all means, don't invest."
It was exactly what I did. And so far, I've saved my self a $60 loss per share.
Fact is, I know Apple is a good company. Another fact is: that doesn't really matter now... because if the Wall Street Crooks decide to dump their shares or to do a massive bear raid, it won't be pretty.
If AAPL returns to $430 or so, I might think about it... but the risk is still pretty high at the moment, not entirely because of Apple, but because of Wall Street liars, cheaters and influential gamblers.
... and it could be simply the beginning of the slide, Charles12345.
Fiscal Cliff, Fiscal Cliff, Fiscal Cliff. If they mess it up again, which is the most likely scenario (let's admit it), we'll see a replay of July 2011 market crash, which means a further 20% to 30% to AAPL and almost every other stock.
$430 - $450 a share... will be a better entry point.
"Why do people think the iPhone and iPad is all Apple will ever have?"
You're looking at things from the wrong perspective. Apple used to have their income a lot more diversified than it has now... Investors know that iPhone makes up the biggest chunk of Apple's revenue nowadays. This is why you see people focusing so much on the iPhone. The rest of their business starts to become irrelevant for investors... and that's why AAPL stock's price started to behave as if it were the iPhone's stock price.
