  • Attention Mel Karmazin: Get Aggressive and Stop Sirius XM's Bleeding [View article]
I think you may have misinterpreted Rocco's point about Apple. Not to put words in the man's mouth but I think the point that is being made here is that Apple benefits from the fact that consumers are "pulled" to their products, while others do not benefit from this good fortune and must convince ("push") the product on their consumers. Clearly, given the type product satellite radio is and the environment in which it competes- it warrants a "push" strategy, which they are not executing.

  • A Tale of Two iPhones [View article]
Interesting read. I think it's also prudent to keep in mind that whatever Apple does, even if it is in the direction of an iPhone Lite, that a main goal of the device would be to continue to drive App Store sales.

  • Best Cyber Monday Deal? Buy Apple [View article]
I've enjoyed reading your weekly Apple articles, thank you for keeping them coming.

Out of curiosity, why not suggest something like the Feb 12 400/420 call spread for a net debit of ~$5.5? That way, if you plan on holding a Feb position for any length of time you are less worried about time deterioration, have capped your potential losses at less than half than the unhedged 400 call's potential losses, and you have still given yourself the opportunity for a nice $14.5 return if Apple closes over $420 in 81 days.

  • Demand Media and Pandora: Hold Your Nose and Buy These 2 Stocks [View article]
I think Apple could certainly benefit from a Music Genome (Pandora) type integration into iTunes. Much the same way Netflix has benefited from accurately predicting members' preferences (see www.netflixprize.com/). The iTunes store is a large part of Apple's success, and improving it is always a good thing.

That being said, I by no means think acquiring Pandora would be the way to go about it. Too costly and like others have stated I think with some dedication Apple could pull it off themselves with much less capital. After all, they must already have a massive pile of data about users' listening habits lying around.

  • Lowering Oil/Gas Prices Is the Right Move [View article]
You seem to randomly have taken two things: the price of oil and the tech boom of the late 90s/early 2000s and present them as if there is a causal relationship - do you have any evidence other than the fact that there seems to be an inverse relationship between the prices of two ETFs?

"There's no good reason for oil to be trading at $90, $80, or even $50."

Wrong. It's called supply and demand, and whether we like it or not a large portion of the supply is controlled by a small portion of the world. Further, demand is increasing even with our lovely new fuel efficient cars over here in the US and Europe. Dampening speculation and short term conditions are not an argument I will address, but I see no proof in your article of the relationship you suggest exists.
