Most likely the shares were bought at much higher prices than the stock is currently. Can somebody explain to me why that has helped the shareholder?

  • The Test of Wills at Boeing [View article]
Like Caterpillar, another global company competing in international markets, Boeing needs to win this fight, no matter what the near term cost is.

If they cave, this company is headed in the same direction as the US auto industry. That means the stock will go down. A lot!

  • Foreclosures Actually Dropped (If You Don't Count Five States) [View article]
Isn't it interesting that among the states mentioned that California is the state of Nancy Pelosi, the leader of the DemocraticHouse? Reed is the senior senator of Nevada and speaker of the Democratic senate. In Michigan, Levin, the Democratic senator and Dingel, the Democratic member of the house, have been the most influential defenders of the US auto industry, especially against more stringent CAFE standards that might have saved this inept industry.

Toll is not stupid that way. He also changed his compensation to benefit significantly, no matter what happens.

Where they are dumb is because they haqve no knowledge, or do not act on fundamental economics.

Where would be today if they had thought of this a year ago?

This industry is up there with automobiles and banks for the stupidity of managements.

  • Dividends Show Differences Between Financials [View article]
If more banks paid out more dividends to their shareholders (why not, that's primarily what they are there for) they would be paying more attention to what they were doing with their money and less likely to do the stupid things they have been doing.
