      Why do analysts always ask if the company will buy back its stock?

      If they think the stock is cheap why don't they persuade their clients to buy it, or have the totally lost the ability to do that?.

      I always thought it was the company's business to maximize profits.
      Now we seem to be in a mantra of companies trying to support their stock by buying it for the corporation.
