    I'm really starting to wonder why the hell they can't shift their revenue sources to an online model. They are not destitute for programming merit. It's not like their executives are dumb. But you're right that they need to get a share of the search market to achieve the status of a dominating web portal. They seem to be begrudgingly forced to take things to the web, like with the Vista download option. I think it's just too open for competition when they eliminate their current lines of distribution. They have to give up their inertia, which is a competitive advantage to smaller crews that can't box up a CD, wrap it in cellophane, and line the shelves with their stuff. I'm just going to hold that Microsoft cannot yet be accused of being ineffective at making money.
