Does a U.S. Market Slump Necessarily Hurt Asia? [View article]
China/Asia doesn't depend on the US. They benefit from being central to the world's future labor force. Internationally, if they can make foreign countries compete against each other for interests within, they come out ahead. Macau, where they are putting in Las Vegas squared, is a hot spot for interests disinterested in the further building up Las Vegas. Macau is the future gambling spot of the world. Also they will have a huge thriving prostitution business out there, because money comes most easily to sociopaths, and sociopaths have to pay for their reproductive relief because nobody loves a guy who'd slit your throat for a nickel if he could get away with it. They are expanding at break-neck speeds. Any faster and the system goes bankrupt. They are straining their resources to expand the skill sets and education level of the emerging population, which will be central to the world's upcoming labor market. The future economic power is Europe. They have the refined intellectual resources to tap into the labor markets of China with the most productive output, and they are primely positioned to outbid the US interests more and more in the near future. US is also losing the oil battles, and will no longer be a global superpower for the oil-rich. Bush has already been made aware of this, and he's giving the remaining lineage of the Standard Oil Trust shareholders everything he can, because they can no longer make money from foreign oil. This will be the last breath of big oil in the US, because Saudi Arabia and Russia control the largest oil fields, and China will soon the largest importer of oil to power their labor-rich economy. So the US is overplaying the global warming because they don't get to be the ones making money off the global warming, and Russia, Saudia Arabia, and China are underplaying the global warming, because they are the ones to benefit from the future of oil. Global warming hype is halfway and excuse, an immature stomp on the ground by an 80-year-old 4-year-old, a facade because the 80 year-old can't get his way anymore.
So Asia doesn't care. With or without the US, they'll be quite alright. European currency is already more green than US currency.
