  • Reuters: Dell LBO group sees deal collapsing; investors assuming as much [View news story]
I view Icahn as a hero here. It is not a question simply of what is best for Michael Dell. The company has spent billions of dollars in recent years on acquisitions, and until just recently offered no dividend. Meanwhile the price of the stock dropped like a rock. To buy out patient investors at this low price does not seem right, and Icahn has rallied the stockholders to vote down this action so unfavorable to those who bought high. I do not see that Icahn has done anything wrong at all. He is simply acting as a person exercising the rights he has.
