I’ve lived in the Philippines for just over a year now. First quarter growth of GDP was 2.5%. Clearly this is not China. Not is San Miguel an attractive investment to me. Their product (beer) is the best in the world in my estimation, but their income has declined from over 57 million pesos in 2009 to less than 18 million in 2011 on a revenue increase of over 200%. These are very disappointing results. I would recommend investigating the various SM corporations as well as Ayala Land. These are showing much better past performance and I was very impressed with the Ayala brothers in a half hour interview on CNN.
