Small time investor - Started my own portfolio / fund on line, because I unfortunately had gotten hooked up with a broker, who thought I was dumb and could be manipulated. I was being given bad advice that I refused to take, to the point that I got angry and left that firm - - Luckily, my current online firm has some wonderful people who are very willing to impart their wisdom when I ask questions, to fill in the gaps of my knowledge - - Have always read financial news but now am on a steep learning curve, being my own manager - prefer long term, steady growth to "double your money overnight" claims - I do like gold but only as a store of value and have acquired small amounts, intermittently since 1980's - Still believe that Credit Unions are the best place to put my bank accounts - I think Warren Buffet's way, to analyze stocks, is the "Cat's Meow" - - My preference is for Companies that are steady "work horses" and which pay dividends like ADP, MKC, KMB, WFC, BG, DSF, DIS, etc. and to weather out the storms that occasionally rock the individual stocks - - Management of a company is important to the quality and long term health of a company and I welcome shake-ups that clear the rats from the nest.
