  • Will Apple Double Its PC Market Share by 2011? [View article]
"Through 2011, the number of 3D printers in homes and business will grow 100-fold over 2006 levels. With a 3D printer, users send a file of a 3D design to a printer-like device that will carve the design out of a block of resin. Printers priced under $10,000 have been announced for 2008, “opening up the personal and hobbyist markets.”

Not sure what I'd want to print that's 3D. Unless I can print out an iPhone.

"Cold outlook for Chinese power providers. Heavy snow and sleet have forced 7% of Chinese power plants to shut down, and companies are struggling to secure enough coal to keep plants operating."

Wonder if lower Chinese output could hit Walmart.

"Morgan Stanley's Stephen Roach, one of the world's leading economists, says the oncoming U.S. recession will dwarf the dotcom slump in its magnitude."

At the same time, the people who run the middle east sovereign wealth funds are saying in Davos that US financials and real estate are at bargain basement prices. Real estate is a real asset, and inflation is rising, so it's hard to see how it can keep falling in price.

  • Apple at $135: Low Hanging Fruit [View article]
It's amazing to see the difference between apple fans who bought the stock and seasoned traders or investors.

Apple is a momentum stock; and you don't own momentum stocks in the short term when they lower their guidance and there's a recession. Maybe it will turn out to be a good 5 year investment, but there's no way you want to own a momentum stock with broken momentum in the short term.

    It really is that simple.

The "four horsemen" are momentum stocks; you don't own momentum stocks in a slowing economy and declining market. It's that simple.

"IBM (IBM) is close to announcing a version of Lotus Notes for the iPhone (AAPL). This would ease the way for corporate IT departments to give iPhone users access to their corporate email accounts, which thus far many have avoided."

This has to be bad news for RIMM.
