  • Bank Of America's Q4 Earnings Were Based Upon Its Own Balance Transfers [View article]
I would have to disagree given the results of individual units specifically the Merrill Lynch/Merrill Edge and the Small Business operations which have show over the last two quarters increasing momentum and resulted in the largest impact to quarterly results.

  • BlackBerry: $13 To $16 Likely Bid Range If Proposal Is Made [View article]
Yeah that price range is not working out for you today, is it?!

You have grossly over valued Blackberry patents and even their service book by at least 1 Billion each.

  • Why Now Is A Good Time To Buy BlackBerry [View article]
Another example of someone not truly understanding the market. $BBRY on the most recent report is down to 2.7% global market share and shrinking. With Blackberry announcing another 500 job layoff's and talks that there could be a split of the company or partial sale of parts of the company. this stock will not see $14 again this year.

@webbersworld depending on how many shares you have. If I were you at this time -$7500 I would be selling covered options on the shares I held to reduce that loss.

$BBRY margins are being squeezed and they have positioned themselves to be in the hardware business (losing side of the business) vs innovating something that no one can live without.

I have been a bear on BBRY since July of 2008 when Droid systems truly started offering value, quality, and something that could give Apple a run for its money.

@brianmc89 when the CEO of the company himself states that BBRY 10 devices haven't picked up the traction they had hoped for yet it becomes very difficult to have any positivity toward a company that is not innovating at all.

I have been playing both sides of the trade in $BBRY thanks to the heavy volume but if you have been long since January or even March you have lost 30+%. If you got in last year you still may be in the green and as Jim Cramer says there is nothing wrong with taking profits as there are always more opportunities to either play the stock or find other less risky investments.

Sometimes its best to get out of a sinking ship or cut your losses to pick up gains elsewhere.

I recommend reading books by Peter Lynch about investing and that you take the emotion and bias of trading.

  • 10 Reasons To Go Long BlackBerry [View article]
@gregpenny well it appears my estimate was much closer to yours and based on stock price now if I had listened to you I would have been down almost 40%.

Watch for more downgrades over the next week to two weeks as the numbers get crunched more.

My price target for $bbry $8.75 at the end of the year.

Well that quarter results will teach you $bbry bulls to be so emotional about a stock.

@p21 there is information about the apps that do that on ZDNET.com

@gregpenny glad you got in when it was early because it looks like with the recent quarter you have time to break even or even take a small amount of profit.

@p21 actually most Execs now do consider cameras when buying thanks to apps that allow photo transcription and conversion to PDF that turns smartphones into mobile fax, scanner's, and now causing in increase in mobile printing solutions.

Granted the apps that do this are most likely not yet available for Blackberry.

What @gregpenny is failing to disclose is that since his initial buy rating articles in March and May the stock is down and if you would have listened then you would have suffered significant loses thanks to poor market timing and emotional/bias attachments to the stock. There are conflicting reports of sales numbers but as cooperation's are now spending more money to create business apps (to allow employees to chose device) vs. offering employees separate devices the blackberry market needs to evolve to cater to a new customer. I believe $BBRY has yet to do that.

Of a recent independent US market survey out of 2500 people only 3 people used Blackberry's 2 of which stated they only use Blackberry due to work and 1 person was considering switching to Blackberry thanks to the Z10.

I see a meet or slightly less earnings report but what will matter most is US sales numbers and future guidance numbers. More often than not the US market is comprised of earlier adopters of technology which than trickles throughout the world $BBRY needs to start show market share increase.

  • Wal-Mart (WMT) has been talking to both Wells Fargo (WFC) about Bank of America  (BAC) about managing its $15.6B 401k program, run for the last 15 years by BofA, Reuters reports. BrightScope estimates Wal-Mart has 1.2M+ people participating in its retirement plan, and that the average account balance stands at $15K. Reuters notes Wal-Mart is seen as a marquee client in the retirement plan space in spite of a small average account size, and that plan administration deals "rarely come up for grabs." [View news story]
This is inaccurate as Bank of America/Merrill Lynch are already the managers of the Wal-Mart 401K.
