For one, there are only $105.4B in bearer bonds outstanding - anywhere. Had the notes been genuine, the pair of Japanese travelers holding them would have been the U.S.'s fourth-biggest creditor.

I *bet* i could sell them to the Chinese--considering that they sold me fake Gillette razor blades on ebay...
