  • This Is's D-Day And The Alibaba Troops Are Disembarking [View article]
Mr. Santos, when do you think Amazon will reach $400 a share? Again, I mean?

  • Now Is The Time To Consider Consolidated Edison [View article]
Always five guys standing around a hole while one guy down in the hole is working. Probably there are also two guys in the back of the truck taking a nap.

Stodgy investment. When interest rates go up, ED will go down.

Buy only when the price is temporarily depressed due to bad news, in the low 40s max.

  • Should I Have Followed My Advisor's Advice? [View article]
This is an excellent analysis and comparison and one that should be done more often.

It would be interesting to apply the same scenario starting at different points in time, say every six months from 2007 to 2012, to see how the plans would compare now.

  • If I Were Starting All Over Again [View article]
Spend your money on experiences, not on things.

  • Citigroup Mired In Mexico - Sell This Megabank [View article]
This would have been a helpful article had it been published in early 2007, but this is 2014 and I am more interested in what will be happening going forward, as are most investors who bought shares after the crash.

I have been holding C for 2 1/2 years now and will be watching over the next few months for an opportunity to buy more.

Better that they go up 200% and then down 67%, as long as they ring a bell at the top and bottom!

  • Blood In The Streets, It's Time To Buy Russia [View article]
I agree with this article in principle, but RSXJ has been in decline since October and I am not convinced that blood is running in the streets at this time and that this is the low point. Tensions may escalate further.

It would be quite an interesting situation if Russia and China both start occupying and annexing surrounding territory simultaneously.

  • A Preferred Bond Replacement Strategy For Intelligent REIT Investors [View article]
Bonds are often insured while REIT preferreds are not.

Bonds usually return the principal to the holder when held to maturity while REIT preferreds may never reach par.

  • A Young Investor's Portfolio - 2013 Review [View article]
Why not just buy VDADX rather than going to all that trouble to replicate it and not getting the same diversification? At least compare your portfolio returns to it and see if you're doing any better.

There was a whole year where this stock could be purchased for $10-12. Doesn't look so good now.
