  • Vietnam Is A Great Market For The BlackBerry Passport [View article]
    Did another classified sweep and iPhone6 seems to have more for sale than Passport and the Passport adds are scalpers i6 just want what they paid back or to trade for a passport.

    These checks last year were totally the opposite with q10s and z10s for good prices and i5 commanding great resale value. Things are looking good so far.

    @Eric,

    60% of Apples income comes from iPhones no? BB always had software ecosystem built on business, MDM, security etc. They made products that made your life easier and faster and by accident celebs like the US President and teenage curls going crazy for BBM all by leading with innovation.

    Things began to change and they didn't realize the disruption, they rebuilt themselves but instead of being true to their nature they were lost and copied the consumer model of Apple and i5 ate their lunch and stole their lunch money.

    If you remember that BB had the same accounting as Apple recognizing sales once shipped. Wow did they get a surprise, so I don't believe Apple sales going forward because I really hate that accounting that hides a flop only to find it doesn't go away.

    My point is that BB is back to what made the modern day smart phone has become, giving reliability, quality, efficiency and security to Working world that wants to save time, not kill it, by providing work horses with impeccable battery life and can take the abuse.

    BBs don't bend, they don't ship faulty patches that disable your phone, you don't have to hold the phone a certain way to have it work, an extra row isn't seen as innovation. Apple Pay is so 2011 BB and right now it's in production at major canadian banks, you know, tap and pay, we Cannucks have been doing it for a while, oh, and well sorry but iOS is not supported, wonder why? Nude hacks? Quality issues? Who knows so you keep on believing what you want and I will carry my shares with a much better chance to double.

    This time around it won't be as slow when it happens because we know better now, or do we? Hey it pays a dividend and I am not on the sell side and if I had shares I'd certainly keep them after 5 years of fun, but I would start to pay attention and not assume the next 5 will be that way, I think the set back will come next quarter or two, especially after seeing the line up and screw ups this year.

    The more I use this Passport and hear comments like mini iPad with a keyboard and mini computer, I think this will prove to be the disrupter bb needed just like apple needed the iPhone or it wouldn't be anything like it is today and a lot of those people are former BB customers, love it as they admire the Passport.

    @Dee,

    Irrational exuberance comes to mind buy buy it's going through the roof gives me pause and to me Apple is over priced. I love the guy in the classified dying to trade his i6 gold 128gb for a Passport tee hee and another trading his new S5 and there was even an m8 for trade.

    Haven't seen that in the last 2 plus years I've been tracking it casually to determine satisfaction. Last year people trading BlackBerry for S4 or i5.

    Not scientific but it sure aligned with the stories or more returns than sales fiasco last year, not saying this is what's happening but the dent in the image has started and takes time to show up in ers

    @iGuys,

    What were blackberries er record in 2009 pretty good but some smart people looked at their innovation as a leading indicator and started thinking get out and eventually short it. My theory is based on innovation as a leading indicator and apple has been riding momentum and when purchasers see the same old it is just a matter of time so enjoy the money from momentum that Steve created.

    I thought investing was seeing the future as best you can and in tech if you are following and copying it is only a matter of time.

    @Eric,

    I think the ERs will be fun. BB will be posting improvements and Apple will be disappointing. That's what happens when you don't innovate and lead anymore and haven't in a few years.

    Past laurel momentum like BB had will only last so long for Apple, another couple of ERs and it will be obvious.

    @eric,

    Good sir, how can great sales with a great margin on the best Super Phone that some have called sexy, a mini iPad with a sic keyboard etc. People scalping them on Kijiji, ebay etc.

    I think we'll see Apple at 80 at the end of the next ER even with all the pumping of ICon and buybacks and BB should be getting it's feet around 15 then.

    Has Tim started their new OS yet? Probably not and will continue to keep bolting things onto it like the Frankenstein OS it is. People are wising up and realizing they want to get things done and save time and have moved away from app bizar of killing time.

    @its-on,

    you miss the point, it's starting to turn already, you never saw that before ever or me since checking in 2012 etc. off and on, never ever. I've never seen iPad sales decrease either. I've never seen such a glitchy and buggy launch either.

    I wouldn't sell yet, they pay a dividend and will trade sideways until sales numbers come in close to what I've been saying, declining phone and definitely iPad declines.

    Did you get the new iPad Mini with a killer never done or seen before keyboard? When you do you will know what I mean.

    @Bradmeister,

    it's a changing, I saw a i6 gold 128gb being traded with cash for a Passport, another with an S5 wants to trade and all i.e. the 2 or 3 listed for sale are well above retail just like on Amazon think scalpers.

    Apple recognizes sales as once they are shipped. I wonder if the Q10 bug will bite i6 where a lot of people were disappointed and returned them. It's coming, iPad sales will decline again and surprise, smoke and mirror launch will show the cracks I've already said are there and will become more prevalent. Think BB 2010, maybe 2011 and I even saw an article about how Apple could be the next BB.

    Enjoy the cash machine while it lasts.

  • BlackBerry Could Earn $1.71 Per Share In Fiscal 2016 With Its New Devices [View article]
    @KIA,

    Hmmm, interesting, I can use my Blackberry as a credit card from CIBC and RBC or Debit and they don't support Apple, hmmmmm, says something doesn't it? Maybe that now iOS is ranked buggy and not safe, nah, not officially anyways.

    I can use my phone to pay with my visa now, not you know, whenever like the iBM deal.

    Today you can do it and who cares about their sites, I never go there, we all go to the bank we use no? Could this be another step behind for Apple? Just getting the Visa and MC on board now when BB was lining up the big boys after getting Visa and MC done i.e. the Banks that issue the cards.

    So Apple Pay is behind and money only catches you up so far.

    @KIA

    Funny, major banks in Canada have mobile wallets starting and no mention of Apple as it's not supported, hmmmm, how does that work into your theory? Blackberry and Android only, DOH!
