  • 2 Speculative Energy Concerns For Under $5 [View article]
Very long HK-just stick with your position as large holders trade out and bring price down to these levels. The CEO, Floyd Wilson, is a very experienced oil man and knows how to deliver the goods.

  • 2 Timely MLPs: Calumet Specialty Products Partners LP And Tesoro Logistics LP [View article]
With the stock around $30 and FY14 price target of only $32, the risk/reward is not in one's favor in a rising rate environment. This new JPM note indicates a "coverage ratio below 1.0". With coverage ratio below 1.0 and refinery expansion, would not surprise me at all to see dilutive offering in the coming months. With weak fundamentals in the refining space, seems like this could trade much lower.

    JPM summary:

  • Total: 5.5% Yield And Growing [View article]
Was in the name in the past but France's high tax rate withholding and their anti business slant make this a no touch for me. Plenty of good MLPs and corporates here with the same upside and yield without giving the socialists one dollar of my capital.

  • Bullish On Florida? WCI Communities Shares Your Enthusiasm [View article]
Good article for this thinly followed stock. I'm a big bull but the recent price action and poor trading volume may cause me to sell and wait for better momentum. I can only think that folks don't understand the company and/or are mistakenly thinking that rising interest rates will negatively impact sales. As you point out, most buyers either pay cash or only finance a small % of the purchase price.

As someone who regularly visits WCI's Venetian and Sarasota National properties, I can tell you that this stock will ultimately be a solid performer once the street wakes up.

  • Joy Global says cost cutting efforts will continue despite gloomy outlook [View news story]
One of the other positive take aways from today's call is that they will be repurchasing $1 BILLION of their stock. At the current price, that is 20% of the market cap. And, the CEO said they will be repurchasing starting tomorrow. Should put a decent base in this huge underperformer.

  • WCI Communities: Florida Real Estate Play With 50% Upside Potential [View article]
WCIC looks to be a hidden gem. I'm really surprised that there is not more of a following post IPO and based on the factors you mention. I have 2 friends who live in WCI's Venetian Golf Club property in Venice and I go there 1-2 times per year. WCI runs first rate facilities. Per WCIC's earnings release 2 weeks ago, WCIC's buyers are not particularly impacted by rising rates (they have a lot of cash buyers and those financing a mortgage are financing very little-exact figures are in their deck from ER). Also, the price of the properties is not particularly expensive for the baby boomers looking to retire or get a second home there.

Also, WCI will be minting money once they start selling the 500 lots at Sarasota National Golf Club which they acquired for a song. Sarasota National is a good footprint of an 18 hole golf course and WCI is going to start selling houses there in 30 days. I was interested in getting updates on Sarasota National and filled out an on-line form to get updates. The next day, a sale rep emailed and called me. Very professional and it just proves to me that they are all over their processes.

I suspect they need a couple of decent quarters before the street takes notice and the stock moves but I like this stock for housing exposure.

  • Cramer: Agriculture is the go-to sector, despite Syria [View news story]
CF on a nice upward trend the past few weeks and Dan Loeb has a new position and will get more active in the coming months. That is my favorite way to play the sector.

  • The Obama administration talks up auto loan program again [View news story]
Exactly, typical venture debt would be approx. 10%-12% with warrant coverage around 3%. Was a huge risk that looks good only in hindsight. Time to get government out of what should be private sector only. You'd think this administration would focus on just a few of the more pressing issues.

  • WCI communities initiated at JPMorgan with a Neutral; shares lower [View news story]
I have 2 friends who live in their Venetian Golf Club property in Venice and WCI is a first rate developer who has a lot of benefits for those wanting housing exposure. Also, per their ER this past week, their buyers are not particularly impacted by rising rates (they have a lot of cash buyers and those financing a mortgage are financing very little-exact figures are in their deck from ER).

They also will be making a killing once they start selling the 500 lots at Sarasota National Golf Club which they acquired for a song. Sarasota National is a good footprint of an 18 hole golf course and WCI is going to start selling houses there in 30 days. This is a thinly traded stock so less subject to day traders which I like. It's under-followed right now but worth watching. I bought a lot in last months IPO.

  • Celsion's CEO Thumbs His Nose At Short Sellers [View article]
This is a good spec investment with huge upside and I'm pretty long waiting for significant news and not trading for a few cents. That said, to say that buying $5,000 of stock mean anything is just silly. If management believes so strongly in the company, they should purchase $100,000 of stock or more. Not a lot of risk with the money at these levels if they truly believe in the company.

  • It's Not A Good Time To Buy Walter Energy [View article]
Bought lots of WLT last week; too cheap to ignore and lots of upside. Also picked up some beaten down GFI and ABX. See the pattern-buy when others are fearful and ignore articles whose authors on SA. Also helped that WLT formed a nice double bottom and bounced right off it. This will be at $20 by mid September latest.

  • Fusion-Io's Full Of Excuses, But Where's The Execution? [View article]
That is exactly how I have seen things play out at 2 separate companies with similar dynamics. New CEO wanted to be delivering the goods rather than chasing unrealistic forecast of predecessor. If the new CEO has 1/2 a brain, he sandbagged the first fiscal quarter (9/30/13) and will be delivering a beat. We'll see. Probably too much to hope that an activist gets involved or a large OEM takes them out (would be pretty cheap now).

  • Celsion's Q2 Earnings: What I'm Expecting [View article]
As I commented in another article, I have a good friend who is a heptologist on the liver transplant team at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA (considered one of the best places for liver transplants in the world) and he deals with a lot of liver cancer cancers. My buddy, an astute investor, turned me onto CLSN as a speculative biotech with huge upside IF things work. If the company's drugs don't work on their own, there seems to be a decent chance of monetization from licensing their patented delivery system to other pharma companies (that's an MD's opinion anyway). I don't have tons of money on the line but I enjoy the weekly bull/bear bashing and hoping to make a few bucks.

  • CF Industries - Attractive Valuations Based On Strong Financials [View article]
Prescient call based on today's action. Got in at a little of $200 and riding this higher as Loeb makes his usual productive noise. Loeb's activism alone makes this $250 pretty quickly.
